Wonderful story. It was so 'them', even if it was a location with which one wouldn't immediately associate Jim. The fact that he wanted to spend time with Blair, and that Blair could do a little of his own 'burning' - just lovely. And very fitting artwork also. Thanks
I can see Jim wanting to make some gestures of his own post the series, and going to an event that's a bit out there for him seemed fitting. Thank you for commenting. :-) I did like B's artwork too - it does indeed fit.
I totally enjoyed this story, Mab. I'm so glad that you put it in the mini bang and you're still part of the Sentinel fandom. Your stories always make me feel like I need to start watching the shows again. Which is a good thing, of course. Lovely story and glad you shared with us. Thank you.
My daughter is a barista when she's not being the mother of a toddler, and the couple who own the very cool, hippie friendly coffee shop she works at went to Burning Man this year with their pre-schooler. So it was cool to read a story set in that experience.
Your writing is so very vivid, and commonplace actions are tied into deeper thoughts and emotions, with such undercurrents between them. Will they become lovers? Maybe. Even if they never hit the sheets together, they are married, connected to each other in a deeper way than just happens with friendship.
Banbury's art was wonderful, the blue sky, the desert behind them.
A journey to there and back again, and I loved the circle theme of Blair threatening to sing on the way out and actually doing it on the way home. As somebody who sings a lot but isn't really musical, I appreciate Blair being a songbird who croaks his lyrics.
I have heard drumming circles and they can be hypnotic.
What a great story. I loved how intimate the story felt in the midst of the thousands of festival attendees. The idea of Blair burning the diss as a transitioning to his new career and Jim's acknowledgement of the changes in their relationship was well played. I would love to read a follow up to this piece.
The artwork was truly beautiful and really set the mood for the beginning of the story.

Blair's enjoyment of singing without commensurate singing ability was borrowed from the author. Thank you for the lovely fb.
