It seems that neither of Minako's parents are home right now, which is a great relief to the young girl because it means that she's able to play her music very loudly. And she does

Ami pauses. Will ringing the doorbell even penetrate that infernal noise? She can hear it through the door. That is not beneficial for your ears, Mina-chan. B|
Minako runs to the door, the music still blasting. "HI, AMI-CHAN!" She yells over the music, motioning for her friend to enter. She scuttles over to the stereo and turns it down to a tolerable level, and then sits down on a couch once again.
"Sit down! Can I get you anything? We have to wait for Rei-chan to get here. Sit down, get comfy!" Mina says quickly rushing into the kitchen to get something to drink almost as soon as she'd sat down.
"Ah, er -" Ami winces at the sheer VOLUME of the music, now that the door's open. "HI, MINA-CHAN!" she shouts, just as Minako scurries over and turns it down, resulting in her yelling to a mostly-quiet room. ". . . oops." She covers her mouth with her hand, blushing.
"Uhm - no, no, that's fine, I can wait!" She's good at waiting. She'll be good and not interrupt anything Minako needs to do until Rei gets here, she promises! Ami sits down on the couch, blinking rapidly. Clearly, she was not used to Minako's . . . unique behavior at home.
Good thing Mina doesn't really do anything around her house, so there's no fear of Ami interrupting chores or something like that.
Despite Ami's refusal, Minako brings out two cans of cola, setting one on the coffee table in front of her and popping open her own can. "So, what have you been up to?" Mina asks. "No, wait! Wait, wait wait, I remember you saying something about a hacker? Did you kick his butt?"
((OOC: Starting a new thread in here in case you guys wanted to continue the conversation a little before Rei's arrival. ^_^ Well, that and LJ squishes threads.))
Rei was late, and it was entirely her grandfather's fault. Ever since finding out about her 'other' identity (kind of hard not to, given everything that had happened), her grandfather had taken to asking her questions every single time she informed him she was going out. She knew it was mostly out of concern - he was more of a father to her than her real father, and even when she tried to hide her injuries, he always seemed to know they were there.
...that, and she kind of suspected that he'd developed a bit of a fascination with some of her friends ever since seeing them in the ultra short skirts that were part and parcel of a senshi's battle attire. But that was just somewhere she preferred to avoid, for the sake of keeping her brain intact.
Knocking on the door, she called, "Hey, sorry I'm late!"
Within seconds of Rei knocking on the door, it is yanked open. "Rei-chan! Welcome!" Minako squeals, hugging the girl quickly. She motions for Rei to enter and sit down, and hurries over to the kitchen.
"Don't worry about being late!" She shouts from the kitchen. Clattering dishes can be heard coming from the room. "I have a surprise for both of you!" The sharp sound of glass breaking echoes out from the kitchen.
"I'll just be, ah, one more second~! Sit down, get comfortable!"
Have no fear, Rei, Ami is hard at work on a solution to that skirt problem. She should have a solution . . . uh, any day now! Really. (Cracking Silver Millenium programming language was harder than it looked, especially with only a preset compiling program installed on their henshin sticks.)
Ami looks up from her soda and nods to Rei, smiling. "You're not late," she says. "I only just got here myself." She scoots over to give the other girl some room, then tucks a strand of hair behind her ear. "How're . . . so how've things been at the shrine these days?"
Rei winced at the sound of the glass breaking in the kitchen. "...maybe we should give her a hand?" she asked.
She took a seat, stretched out, and let out a little relieved breath. Any time that Rei hadn't been working as a Senshi, she'd been busily at work at the temple, or with schoolwork. She had a sneaking suspicion that her grandfather was going out of his way to keep her busy so that she wouldn't go out as Sailor Mars, but she found time for it anyhow. When push came to shove, Rei was good at organizing things - especially managing her own time.
"It's been good for the most part," she said. "Though, grampa worries about me when he sees some of my injuries from time to time, and he's been asking a lot of questions."
