Last Friday while drawing Sophie a bath, we realized that we had no hot water. I went downstairs and found the pilot light out on the hot water heater. It was windy outside, so I convinced myself that a downdraft blew it out. I relit it and all was well. Until the next day when it went out another half dozen times.

I don't remember if I wrote about it at some point, but two years ago my brother and I developed a computer program that was designed to be a communication tool between teachers and parents. We're having a boy this time. And we're going to name him John Michael after my dad.

I think someone stole my iPod. The problem is I don't remember if I left it in my car, or if I brought it into work. Either way, it's not where it should be. Our basement is divided into roughly three general areas. The largest is finished, and the second half is about a third as big and is being used as storage. There is also a small room in the corner that doesn't really serve a purpose. This has probably been the busiest roller coaster summer of my life. With my dad passing away, I feel like there is no normal, because it's not normal from him to be gone. So I spend every day trying to find the new normal. I think everyone in my family is doing the same. But with every bad, there is a good.

Becky is due February 11th.
