He had determined there was a strong possibility that something was wrong a week into the relationship. But as there was no solid proof to base his findings on he had to consider it what they termed ‘feelings’ and he could not justify ruining her happiness with a hypothesis that had no logical foundation.
As he watched her sitting alone, her head buried in her arms and her shoulders shaking, he concluded that he needed to say something. After all, she was his friend.
“I shall not leave you, Mistress.”
She wiped her eyes as she looked up and smiled.
