OK, my hands are still shaking, but at least there is a big-ass grin on my face. Why, you ask? Well, I'm sure some of you don't need to ask...

Yeah, Viggo BETTER be there... unless he's holed up in the hotel with me, there is no excuse for him not to be there. *grin*

He's had his fair share, already.

I want Coppola to win...it'd be the FIRST woman.

So screw Jackson - he had his "15 min"....no offense, but move over, big guy.

WTF???Have you even SEEN the movies??
BTW Coppola won at the Oscars..besides Lost in Translation has nothing to compare to Lord of the Rings.NOTHING!

Peter Jackson and the crew deserve to win these because 1) Peter has been making movies for a while and never ever been recognized and 2)These are the most amazing movies made in a LONG time...not only the story but the Artwork in it,The Cinematography, the Visual Effects which are so good that you can't even notice that they are visual effects.

I am not trying to be a bitch...but a movie like Lost In Translation come once a year...Movies like LOTR come once in a lifetime and the creators and Director totally need to be recognized for it and for making such a great adaptation of the book...have you read the books??Maybe you should read the boks and see the movies before you diss Peter Jackson.

Just my honest opinion.

A-FUCKING-MEN. People... just don't understand it, and it's very hard to explain what a movie like this means to so many people. With everything that's been going on lately, I was honestly expecting something like that to happen. *shrug*

i watched the announcements live (um..hi, geek much?) and i was shocked at the number of noms. almost as many as titanic (which i think was a record-tying 13). i was really sad that there were no acting noms b/c i think these actors have been really overlooked. but i hope peter wins it. and i hope they get best picture. they've all worked so very hard on it.

I myself have a hard time choosing who stands out in the movies. Certainly in ROTK, Sean Astin... but wow... the amazing subtleties of Viggo, Ian M, Bernard Shaw, Miranda Otto... so many are wonderful, I think in the voters' minds, they cancel out one another. Too bad the Oscars don't also have a 'best ensemble' category.

PS: Your icon made me laugh out loud. Thanks!

i totally understand; it's so hard to choose! they should really have a best ensemble category. there are so many great films with wonderful ensemble casts out there that just aren't being recognized.

thanks! i love it too. i wish i could take credit for it but it was made by someone else. :)

Wow, you are so lucky. I wish I could've watched them. Our TV sucks right now, though, or I would've found some way to watch them. *sigh*

They do deserve every nomination, and they deserve to win, in every category. I hope they blow everyone else out of the water.

They better, or the Academy will have some angry fangirls to deal with! *giggle* I agree, Sean got ripped off. *sigh*

Hurrah!!!!!
I'm momentarily thrown by the omission there too, but overall, elated!
Cinematography? I missed that. Wow, no nomination there? That seems odd.

The first thing I did, and before anyone else was awake too, was turn on the radio to hear the news. :D

I was honestly expecting them to overlook him. *sigh* It would have been terribly shocking (and wonderful!) for them to nominate him, but alas, like you were saying earlier, a lot of people tend to overlook the acting and just notice the special effects, and that's just crappy. Oh well, I am still pleased at the eleven nominations! Yay! :)
