Want a little eye candy?? (Plus recs)

Ugh, you guys, I've been trying to get stuff done, but my weekend has been totally eaten by a TV show. Has anyone else seen Noah's Arc? It was a series on Logo a few years back -- seventeen 22-minute episodes plus a follow-up movie. (If you have Netflix, you can stream all of it online; otherwise I think it's only on DVD.) It's about the friendship ( Read more... )

Noah's Arc!

Yes! I've seen every single bit of it (including the movie) and loved it, even in spite of the writing and crackiness. It really is completely farfetched at times, and yet I couldn't stop watching. I loved it all.

So, yes. We should talk. :P

I know I wrote about it once on my lj, I'll go find it.

Thank you for digging up that link! Never wrote about S2 or the movie, I guess?

***SPOILERS BELOW***

I totally agree with you about how the episodes are too short to allow for proper character development (or porn!). There are some real leaps in logic, I think -- even though I adore Ricky/Junito, that sort of came out of nowhere. And I definitely agree with this:

Things happen too fast for my taste. Eddie cheats on Chance. And then within a couple of episodes, they're engaged!

There were several times where I felt like issues weren't actually resolved (such as the thug thing!). Also, there was a hell of a lot of infidelity (especially in the movie, oof, people switching partners everywhere), and it didn't seem to take much time for most characters to get over that kind of betrayal.

hahahaha, no, apparently not.

You know, the Ricky/Junito was really one of my favorite storylines, because it was all so new to Ricky -- I loved it. And then there was so much wtf and I was soooooo disappointed with how they ended the Ricky/Junito relationship. :(

Yeah, a lot of it really just happened too fast, without any sort of reasoning as to why.

I've heard about this show, but I'm just not sure I can handle another life-sucking gay show full of hot guys and ridiculousness. I'm thinking one per decade is enough :-D

But speaking of eye-candy, I assume you've seen Boyculture with Darryl Stephens (Noah)?

Ahahaha, fair enough! Especially as there seems to be no fandom for it, so I can't find any fic to fix the problems bothering me. :-(

Yes, I did see that movie a couple of years ago, and I remember finding Darryl Stephens ridiculously hot...but I don't remember anything else about it! Hmm. Maybe I should queue that one up again...

Aw, I loved Noah's Arc! Really uneven in terms of acting and production quality, but...joyful, I'd say. M.

"Joyful" is a great word for it, particularly in the friendship moments, I thought. There's that scene after Eddie and Chance's wedding gets ruined when the friends come back to an empty reception and start dancing with each other -- I loved that scene. ♥

it's not really that great of a show. The acting ranges from adequate to awful, the writing is uneven, the storylines are often ridiculous, and yet...it's like crack.

YES! THIS! The S.O. and I mainlined it like crack a couple of years ago. I barely remember the actual storylines so probably couldn't even discuss them with you, whoops, but I do recall that one huge guy (firefighter? or maybe I made that up) being CRAZY HOT.

Ahaha, you're referring to Trey, Alex's husband, who did roleplay as a firefighter to put out a toaster fire. :-P He also did a calendar to raise money and I believe he may have brought out the firefighter gear then as well. Can't seem to find that outfit, but here's another to refresh your memory. ;-)

TREY! YES! This picture is very relevant to my interests. *nod* :D

... I can't believe there was a role-play scene, which I then remembered as him being an actual firefighter. LOL.

Hee! I found some of the other characters a little more relevant to my interests physically speaking (*licks Ricky up and down*), but Trey was one of the sweetest characters. I really liked him. He put up with quite a lot being married to bossy Alex. :-)

It is fun! Kinda like the TV equivalent of bad fic that hits your emotional kinks to the point where you can't seem to stop reading. :-)
