Rapunzel had enjoyed decorating the room, and it looked very nice now. The lanterns didn’t quite make up for missing the floating lights, just as her mural room at the Blackstone hadn’t, but they were pretty nonetheless. However, she had come to a realization ( ... )

Kel would freely admit that she was frightened. She had never really gone to a party where she wasn't either serving or surrounded by her friends and fellow knights. However, Alice had convinced her somehow, she couldn't actually remember how, come to think of it, and so here she was. In lieu of a gown, Kel had decided that nice trousers and a freshly pressed tunic would be more than dressy enough. She still wished that she had something to do, though.

Kel would never again doubt the power of wishes, for right in front of her Rapunzel executed a quite impressive faceplant, gathered up her hair, and scurried off towards Alice. Kel followed, and politely asked, "Hey, do you need some help with that? I may not look it, but I'm actually quite practiced in hair braiding thanks to the refugee camps."

Alice, who was busy making sure that no one ate hors d'oeuveres as an actual meal, glanced up at the sound of Rapunzel calling her name. Seeing the tiny girl pulling all of her hair behind her, Alice had to once again marvel how the girl's small neck didn't break under that weight.

The mention of a possible makeover made her grin. "Sure~" She glanced behind her at Kel and winked. "I'd love to help."

"Yes, please!" Rapunzel replied gratefully to Kel, head tilting slightly to the side as she smiled awkwardly. "I just don't know how to get it all out of the way!" Rapunzel was good at fiber arts, but there was so much hair, and if the goal were to get it off of the floor, it would require work in the section of her hair she couldn't see easily. Just as a party was no place for hair on the ground, it was also no place for as ugly a measure as stuffing the hair in a large bag, however effective that had been.

She stood still and relinquished her hold on the overflowing armfuls of hair, letting it fall to the floor in a pile at her feet.

Rosette loved parties. The Order rarely had them - there was a Christmas party, but rarely anything beyond that - so this was a treat. She'd even found a nice dress for the occasion, and she was thoroughly enjoying herself. It took a second glance to realize that what she'd seen out of the corner of her eye was Clare sitting in the corner, reading. At a party.

There was something wrong with this picture.

She made her way over to Clare and leaned against the wall next to her. "Reading at a party?" she questioned. "I thought the point of this was to have fun."

"That's why we're having this party," Rosette pointed out. "To get everyone's minds off all the crazy stuff that's going on around here, even if it's just for one night. We need the break, and I'm pretty sure 'we' includes 'you.'"

Ooh. Yeah, that was a pretty good reason to feel awkward about this whole thing. "Yeah, me too," Rosette admitted. Parties were rare at the Order, and Valentine's Day tended to pass by without much celebration, despite the best efforts of Anna, Mary, and Claire. "But I figure this one's different from anything back home. No harm in trying, right?"

As strange and uncertain as this new city was, it would only be right for Fluttershy to try and lighten her mood properly by visiting the party Terra had told her about. Even if she'd never been the most social pony, she wouldn't say no to a party put on by her friends.

Though the weather was just awful outside--ooh, this was really the sort of thing they needed a weather team for--Fluttershy managed to fly over to the theater with no more damage than being a bit wet, and in spite of the storm, seeing the decorations helped to brighten her attitude considerably; it was the brightest place she'd seen in this city yet, and decorations that would have made Pinkie proud.

Glancing about those present--indeed, all humans as far as she could see--the pegasus settled back down to the ground and wondered where she was supposed to start.

Out of sight behind one of the chairs, one of the room's occupants was equally non-human. When Kitten emerged and caught sight of Fluttershy, she paused and studied the pony in confusion. Kitten was no stranger to ponies and certainly unsurprised by the existence of winged horses. No, the source of her confusion was something else entirely. Pink. Pale yellow was not the most common color for a pony, at least not in the lands where Kit lived, but it was not unheard of. A pink mane and tail, however? Kitten was fairly certain those did not naturally exist anywhere in the Mortal or Divine Realms. Were the dreams of young human girls now strong enough to create new immortals? Or was the pony simply from a world entirely foreign to her own ( ... )

The little chirp of noise made Fluttershy jump--not out of fear, this time, but rather out of startled excitement. Upon catching sight of the little dragon, the pony's eyes positively lit up, and she knelt down to get closer. She didn't look much like Spike at all, but there was no doubt that she must have been the baby dragon Fluttershy had heard about before.

"Oh, hello there, little friend! You must be the baby dragon that Thomas told me about." This was very likely the loudest Fluttershy's voice had gotten at any point since her arrival in Chicago, but meeting little dragons was simply so exciting. "I was so hoping I'd be able to meet you. My name is Fluttershy, what's yours?"

The pony could speak. Not like ponies spoke but like humans did. Kitten's confusion grew steadily. With a whistle of surprise, since she had not known Thomas spoke much of her, much less to a people-talking pony as opposed to a People-talking pony, she pondered how to answer that question. Well, if Fluttershy could speak human, hopefully she could read as well. Kitten fell back on the usual standby, holding her name tag up toward the pony's nose. If all else failed, she supposed there was a return to dragon charades.

Minako had no choice but to go to the party. It seemed almost wrong, after all, to miss it as she was a princess of the planet named for Aphrodite. She wore a white dress, resembling a style from the 50's, white heels and her hair in curls.

Despite it all, she still felt awkward in the room... The Goddess of Love without someone to really spend Valentine's Day with. Venus scoffed at the idea and Minako, perhaps, had to learn to understand that it wasn't all about that... For once, her past persona was on the right track about it all. She carried in some white roses, setting them off to the side and decided it was now or never to try and mingle... Have a good time.

At least Minako looked nice. Jason had tried but after being zapped with lightning he wasn't having much luck. His hair was sticking up slightly no matter how much he combed it and he had lost one of his shoes. That and his nice clothes were soaked. He'd grabbed a towel but it wasn't doing a lot of good. He really should have waited, he supposed, until after the party.

Did this mean he was going to have to walk home without one shoe on as well? Jason could still feel the storm pulsing outside and it called to him. He ignored it though, no way was he going out there again if he could help it.

A towel draped over his shoulders and sparks still falling from his fingers he hoped no one brushed against him for awhile because they were probably going to get some a serious static shock. He stood in the back, feeling awkward.

Minako couldn't not notice the sparking boy as he walked into the party. Her brow furrowed and she approached him shortly after he stood off towards the back of the room.

"I thought Cinderella lost her shoe leaving the party," she joked, smiling a little as she offered him something from her plate.

Despite feeling a little bad about his appearance at the party he smiled at the girl's joke, "Well, I'm not exactly princess material." He sighed and rang some more water out of his shirt, "In fact I feel more like a drowned rat."

He looked up at her again. She was dressed in a very nice ensemble as far as he could tell. He also realized she was offering him something. Jason blinked and accepted the mini-hot dog, "Uhm, thanks. I'm Jason by the way."

Frilly pink dress: Check. Already had a blood packet: Check. Juliet was sure that this would be a good idea. She'd taken every precaution she could to keep herself from being too hungry. Since the Skinwalker debacle, she'd become worried of accidentally feeding off someone and was making extra sure to have a packet of blood before leaving her room each day.

But Valentine's Day, even without Justin, in this strange alternate Chicago, was still worth celebrating. So, the young vampire showed up regardless of her relationship status of 'its complicated' and had every intention of mingling and making the best of things.
