The knock on the door came maybe a minute or so after Thomas stepped out of the shower. First the Red Court (and his Hummer). Then the trip on Lake Michigan. It had been a hard week on his reserves, and Thomas was doing his best to ignore the whisper of his demon against his consciousness, the slowly growing emptiness, the growing desire to feed. He could call Minako. Could call her with a friendly invitation to go out for drinks. One thing could lead to another ( ... )

Justine stared right back. Well, no, staring wasn't the correct word. She drank the sight of him with her eyes, desire and affection and love mixing in a way that made it seem like it was never enough, ever.

But conversation gave Thomas something to focus his attention on, a reminder of where they were and how he really should stop gaping like an idiot ( ... )

Justine slipped in, her usual, very human grace not leaving her now, either. Taking her cues from him (and his state of undress, she knew, or believed she did, that her touch would still be hurtful, especially with the way emotions chased on his face. Or the emotions she saw; not many were likely to interpret them with any likelihood of precision), she kept a bit of distance; not too much, though. Close enough that she could lean and touch the side of his hips, over the jeans. Close enough that he could reach, too, although even the immense suite was close, the way he could move ( ... )
