Potpourri of Feline Updates

I have not posted in long and long, chiefly because I have nothing to say. I still don't, but here it is anyhow:

Max Update: Despite his lack of fondness for the Good-morning-Maxxie-here's-your-pill routine his mornings have taken, Max is doing better. He's slowly gaining weight, and he's not as sheddy. He will be fine; I just wish I didn't feel ( Read more... )

I'm glad Max and Dave are both fine, albeit odd.

But saying that cats are sometimes odd is like saying the the Sun is occasionally a tad warm.

Yeah, they do all have their own little quirks and foibles, don't they?

Yes indeed they are.

We were just commenting that it was an excellent idea that we installed double sinks in our bathroom - one for the humans, one for the cats. (Zoe is fond of sleeping in the sink and all the cats prefer drinking fro the sink tap to drinking from the water bowls.)

As his namesake, it is obvious to me what he is up to.

The apartment is big enough for exactly two, Dave and you. Clearly, the presence of another person is driving Dave to try to escape through the faucet back to the sea from whence he came.

Speaking of back to the sea, aren't you on a cruise ship somewhere?

Seems to be a chick thing at the moment. He's not doing it when guys come over.

Like his namesake, he is slightly odd.

maybe it's a chick thing?

Dave did go wet his head a few times with me...

I only learned the other day (though it was from a questionable source - a comedian on the radio) that cats have sex glands on their heads, hence the rubbing of said head onto new people. (Apparently, elephants can ooze from the side of their heads when they're excited? Like I said - questionable source!)

I would have suggested "a chick thing" even if I hadn't heard about the sex glands though...

According to my way-reliable source, the Internet: "Cats, like many other animals, are packed full of pheromone-oozing scent glands that are primarily used to communicate with other cats on such hot topics as identity, sexual availability and territorial ownership. The most active and important glands that a cat uses to send these messages are located on the tail, the side of the body and the face. Thus, when a cat rubs up against your legs or slides its face along your hand, it is engaging these glands in order to leave its unique scent on you." Not so much a sex thing as it is claiming you as property ( ... )
