Yeah, I'm pretty similar. I *want* to be more fannish about shows where I don't have a big ship but it's a lot harder and doesn't usually happen. That's why I'm really into Game of Thrones right now, I love the characters/plot but I have a bunch of ships I loooove which makes it easier to get into the fandom.
To me Danny is Jewish. 100% and forever. Wait till we hear about his Aunt Olga who sends him smelly food. No wait you saw that, it's right before the "are we done with the insult jokes" bit. I'm pretty sure Wilde is either not his birth name or an Ellis Island renaming.
As for Brett I think you could go either way. Large sections of the scottish aristocracy are Anglican and that's probably where I'd personally go but I think you could make a case for Catholic if you wanted. See what you think after the episode where we see family funerals.
Thank YOU! Brett's religion is not something I'd really thought about and now I'm excited to play detective next time I'm rewatching (unless we get a conclusive answer from another fan...)!
The most common religion in the UK is Church of England or Church of Scotland also called Anglican Church. If Brett (which I find an odd name for a Brit, but there you are) is nobility that he's most likely anglican, most catholics have Irish roots, or if they're more recent immigrants, Polish or similar. In Scottland Catholizism is more common in the outer island where reform did not take such a strong hold, rather than the main land.

I will look into the Anglican angle, but also look at the funerals episode. Thank you. <3

I'm also 100% on the Danny is Jewish train of thought.
