even Star Trek V, which...wow, it doesn't get more aggressively awful than THAT
Ryan North recently posted a link to a fan made version of Star Trek V that had been edited down to episode length. Apparently it makes a pretty okay episode. I keep meaning to download that version to check it out.
As for the new movie? Well it's hard to say because since I'm in my first watch of TOS right now all it made me want to do is go home (or well go to Susan's house) and watch more Star Trek. Like I enjoyed the movie a lot, but it didn't blow my mind or anything because it wasn't something I had been waiting for it was just another part of something that's new and wonderful for me. If that makes any sense.
But more importantly, PRISON BREAK WRITERS NOT LOOKING UP FACTS? Alert the newsmedia!
Oh good, there are two of us who haven't see the new ST movie! Not that I have anything against it. It's just, going to a new Star Trek movie alone feels somehow even more pathetic than going to another movie alone... Heh. Maybe it will be playing in Nairobi when I'm there and my sister and I can go. :D
I just gotta pipe up with an opinion here. If you think you won't like the new movie, you probably won't. I am probably the only person on the planet who didn't love it. I watched TOS religiously as a kid, was a huge TNG for many years, also was a DS9 fan. Voyager was the only show I couldn't stand.
I had a good time watching parts of the new movie, but ultimately, I didn't like the new characterizations or the really weird choices about how the universe is going to be. The more I hear people squeeing about it, the more I am silently wondering, hmmm did we even see the same movie?
Thanks for coming in with a different opinion! That could also be the outcome, because my concerns with the movie are the ways it appears from the trailer that it's been updated in ways that I'm not really comfortable with: the hot young things for actors, the Apple store-looking bridge, all of the action sequences.
Oh thank you! I kept saying I hated the fact that the bridge looked like a Gap store, but it's definitely more personality-less in the manner of an Apple store :P

And I'm sure the new ST movie is just as good as everyone says it is, I just can't figure out what about it is putting me off anyway. Heh.
