IJVP - Day 9!

Hi team, how're we doing? We're over halfway done with my version of IJVP, so just hang in there. :) Today's vidlet was suggested by _par_avion, it's a Battlestar Galactica vid to Cheryl Wheeler's "Orbiting Jupiter."

think that we forget that while we (i.e., the vidder) have heard this song a million times, the audience has not.

That's an excellent point. And I, in particular, am very lyrics-attuned, even in other people's vids. I tend to pick them up before I even get the full effect of the visuals. But this seems to be pretty rare, and I forget that.

I love your brain! Wow. I would never have gone there (Adama = Jupiter) but is so perfect. One of the problems I've had with this song is, on the one hand, it is so Starbuck: female vocalist, but not breathy or girly, joy in flight, space imagery. But. The space imagery is so tied to the Milky Way, and the Galactica has very specifically Not Found Earth!

But the mythology of Jupiter/Zeus, the King of Gods, ruler of Olympus so works with what he has become, especially now that he has sort of overthrown his father commanding officer ( ... )
