IJVP - Day 9!

Jan 17, 2006 21:01

Hi team, how're we doing? We're over halfway done with my version of IJVP, so just hang in there. :) Today's vidlet was suggested by _par_avion, it's a Battlestar Galactica vid to Cheryl Wheeler's "Orbiting Jupiter."

For those of you who are just here for the vids - please right-click and 'Save Target As.' The file is DivX AVI.

I watched it at least three times without being able to say anything coherent. It's just so beautiful. Though I have to say I'm with DB in disagreeing with you! I *love* it internal, and I thought the intimacy of the human emotions made the external Raider shots hit me even harder. I think I got all teary at some point. ;)

Favorites (read: moments that gave me CHILLS, OMG):

- "watching all the planets rise" - The throbbing piano and the tentative-yet-bursting joy of this family killed me.
- "the cosmic ballet" - Yes, it's operatic and apocalyptic and yet? There's still no doubting their faith and connection.
- "There is comfort in starlight / in moonlight guiding my way home" and that last scene - You said in the end how she really wants and doesn't want to rely on his love (clearly, I need longer than a minute to get all of that across). Well you have all of that *right* here, sweetie.

PS: Yay over halfway done!

Thank you so much, Flo-bee. You and DB and Paravion have made me love this vid with your love. :) I'm very glad it affected you.

This was the first I'd heard of her, so I'm looking forward to hearing more now!

I like this one lots. (I've also fallen in love with the song; have to hunt it down on iTunes!) I wish I could articulate how/why this works for me, but I've got nothing that makes any sense. So, I leave you with only that I like it!

The song is really, really lovely. I'm going to be checking out more of her stuff. Thank you for the comment!

I love this. "Jupiter"...how perfect! It was nice that this wasn't only Starbuck and the old man -- that Adama's whole "system" was referenced. The "moonlight" segment is indeed a particularly powerful one, and all the effects worked very well. I'm going to have to disagree with you, though, about there not being a full vid's worth of Starbuck/Adama to explore. My only complaint is that this vidlet isn't longer.

Thank you very much! I think looking back on it now, I agree that there is definitely enough for a full-length Starbuck and Adama vid.
