You're not the only one who could fill a whole list with John/anyone. :D

Let's see, we have Teyla (strong, smart, kind), Sara (who I don't know very well, but since she's Jack's ex I doubt she's a doormat), Vala (clever, resourceful, morally flexible but good at heart), Amy (not my fandom), Darla (evil, resourceful, dangerous), Buffy (slayer of vampires, duh). Hmm. Apart from the fact that three of them are mothers (Darla - she was Connor's mom, right?, Teyla, Vala), I'd venture a guess and say that they're all strong and confident female characters? I could be wrong, because I don't know enough about Sara and nothing about Amy.

Ooh, I never even noticed that so many of my female characters were mothers! Wow, good catch. It's not exactly about Sara or Darla being mothers, though. If I'd done a full list I'd've added Methos/Cassandra and Methos/Rebecca Horne (also mother-figures) and maybe Cam/Amy Vandenberg or John/Nancy (both not). It's about history, about ex-wives or old boyfriends and shared lives in the past, possibly reconciling in the future. Teyla/Kanaan and Ronon/Melena would fall into this category.

With Daniel/Vala and Wes/Lilah, it's textual physical attraction but a denial of real feelings, though both pairings were working on that when their shows ended. It's UST without the dragging no-chemistry of Jack/Sam :P

Amy Thomas, Sara O'Neill, Amy Vandenberg, Nancy are similar to John/Cam and Sam/Will in that there's very little canon. They're rare pairings, practically obscure, which also means lots of room to play as a writer!
