[Drop off birthday gifts here for Priscilla. ♥]

[It's not very well-wrapped, and the paper and bow don't really match at all, but inside there's a little bottle-green glass swallow that Asellus managed to get before all the chaos went down. It's not a lot, but she thought of Pris when she saw it.

Presents are hard.]

Gift-giving had never been a forte of Isley's. He was always better at administering punishment than he was gestures of affection or kindness. Still, the moment he had seen the wooden carving of a fox that Clarice had made he knew it would be an ideal gift for Priscilla.

He had set it carefully upon the table with a sheer ribbon about its neck, a bow attached. Next to it sat a neatly wrapped bundle of books on various forms of weaponry-Priscilla had taken a liking to reading as well as teaching, and he was positive she'd find enjoyment in the practicality of the present.

[As someone who doesn't normally do things like gifts and... birthdays... she wasn't entirely sure what was necessary for the ceremony. Or if anything was necessary at all. But what she ended up with, an appropriately-sized tin chicken, seemed satisfactory enough.]

[Call it a peace offering. And a very uncertain Teresa.]

[Ever since she met Isley, Priscilla had come to expect a daily dose of mysteriousness in her interactions with him. And admittedly, he had been hinting to her about... something!]

[All of which means she isn't completely surprised when she comes into the ballroom and finds... well.]

[Everything.]

[Even so, her breath hitches, and it takes a good deal of self-control not to start crying right there. Which she refuses to do, because that would be... really embarrassing. So she gives Isley a kind of openly melty look and searches over the attendees to flash a sheepish little smile at Kaien before settling in to do her normal Party things.]

[Which mostly means mingling.]

[WHILE WEARING A DRESS!]

[...and occasionally sipping strawberry punch.]

How's the whole birthday thing going?

[She's subdued, but still cheerful, as she approaches Pris from the wall she's been hanging near, offering a berry from her small plate of them with a grin.]

It's a great party. How're you enjoying it?

[Oooh berry! She smiles and accepts it with a grateful little nod.]

Well! So far no one evil has turned up. That's a good thing!

And... I didn't really want a party, to be honest with you. But I'm having a good time. So I guess that makes it good.

That's a good thing, indeed. You deserve to have a good time. You do a lot for everyone; isn't it fair that people do a lot for you, sometimes? Occasionally, you have to let people fuss. [Not that she expects Pris to agree. Hell, even she doesn't agree with the idea-- well, not often.]

Besides, it's nice to have something to celebrate, don't you think? Especially a birthday. How old are you, anyway?

[Teresa hadn't come entirely for Priscilla's benefit. She had no use for things like birthday parties, secretive or otherwise. But it was a change of pace after the worst of the rioting, and a chance to keep an eye on Priscilla (and Isley.) That alone made it worth sparing an hour or two.]

[At least she's dressed more or less like a normal person and isn't carting around a giant sword.]

[ And speaking of interesting guests....]

[He hasn't seen Teresa in person since their confrontation in the ruins some months back... yet, he has kept track of her. Such an interesting woman, and with such power bubbling under her surface.

[So he tips his head to her in acknowledgement. A much nicer greeting than he had given the last time.]

Teresa. It has been some time, hasn't it?

[Teresa stiffens the moment she senses him approaching, but does nothing to avoid him. He wanted something, she guessed, but would he try anything at the party? Would he get anywhere even if he did?]

[She watches him evenly, a light smile on her lips, arms folded over her chest.]

Not nearly long enough.

I didn't think you were a friend of Priscilla's.

As it happens, I'm not particularly well acquainted with the guest of honor.

[He lifts his glass - red wine - to his lips and takes a light sip.]

[Did someone say party?]

[Yes they did. Buffy arrives dressed like a sorbet, drops off a package by the door, and gets to the business of being life-of-the-party girl.]

[Because he really doesn't spend enough time trolling the other Summers sister. ... No really though, what is that dress. All these women from the future that just show off bare legs like it's nothing - it's all very strange to him. At least he knows better than to bring up the push up bra...]

Would you care for a glass of wine, Miss?

[He's got both red and white on the tray he's balancing deftly on top of one palm.]

["Ooh, wine!" is probably not the most distinguished way of responding to an offer of a drink. And yet, here it is:]

Ooh, wine!

[And here comes the part where she tries to figure out whether she likes red or white. She pauses for a moment before picking up the white. Mild is good.]

....you looks pretty Victorian, there.

[Let us address the obvious. Sure, why not?]

[Strangely spirited reaction to the wine aside, apparently Dawn's not the only one who can make statements he finds difficult to respond to.]

...Thank you?
