Hey, I'm guessing a lot of you come from a place that has some kind of holiday like Thanksgiving, or at least something like it.

Where I'm from, we just... gathered together on this day, made a veritable feast from what little we had and spent the rest of the night eating, drinking and making merry.

I like to think it's a good time to reflect on what ( Read more... )

I've always enjoyed feasts, even if I had to work. There was always plenty of food though...and probably too much wine.

I'm thankful for the new friends that I've made. But also for the old ones that I've been given the chance to see again.

Oh.

[Merlin perks, looking and sounding a bit proud.]

I suppose I could be. Gaius called me that once. But really, it's the whole destiny thing. For Arthur and Albion.

Not that I can't and don't use it to help other people. So if you're ever hurt or anything...

Gaius? [For Arthur and Albion tries to tug at his memory, but only in that obscure reference kinda way. He never really connects the dots, having never really heard the whole story in any meaningful way before.

But yeah -- a sorcerer who uses his abilities for good and to help people. That's... quaint. Kinda nice, actually.]

So you can heal people, is that it?

He's like a father to me. He taught me...a lot about my magic. Made me feel like I wasn't a monster.

[Even if he had the power to be one. Which he thinks about for a moment before continuing.]

Heal. Or defend, if need be.

[Note to self: Keep the adorable sorcerer away from the Winchesters. Particularly Dean.]

Hey, that's not so bad, then.

See, where I'm from? Magic is generally bad news... but I think it really depends on how it's used. You know, 'with great power comes great responsibility' and all that jazz.

Like a sword? I hear it compared to weapons a lot. Arthur thinks of it more as an army.

I've always imagined it as fire, myself. A flame can keep your warm or burn a home to the ground. The choice is yours.

Yeah, I can get behind that. Fire sounds a bit more useful to anyone, even those who don't like to fight.

[Even though he's been a soldier for longer than a human, but that's the apocalypse for you. Some people broke and stayed that way, others reforged the pieces into something that could cope with the End Days. Cas' became a lover and a fighter, cuz why the hell wouldn't you?!]

Good example, I like the way you think.

[The orgies speak for themselves, man. Merlin gives a little huff of a laugh at that.]

Thanks. I don't hear that every day.

So what did you do before coming here?

[Don't remind him of all the fun he used to have. People here are so... uptight!]

Ah, hah... that's gonna take some explaining.

Not counting being a self-proclaimed Yogi, I'm... uh, a hunter.

I don't mind listening.

[He was certainly patient while Merlin rambled on.]

A yogi? Oh! What sort of game do you hunt? Rabbit? Boars?

Technically, anything we can find and shoot for dinner is fair game.

[Pun not intended.]

But uh, our main focus is to hunt down more... um, supernatural prey.

Supernatural? Like monsters and such?

Yeah, exactly.

You know... demons, vampires... witches out for blood, that sort of thing.

That sounds dangerous. What do you use to hunt them with? Swords and crossbows?

Ah... sometimes.

[It... really depends. Which is the very reason every hunter worth his salt keeps a small arsenal tucked away somewhere.]

Generally, guns are used -- do you know what a gun is, Merlin?

Not really, no. I've heard them mentioned, but I've never really seen one or know what one does.
