The kitten didn't make it through the night. Kid-2 was right next to him, sleeping on the floor to make sure all was okay...she got a chance to pet him goodbye.

efbq has some of the earlier details on her LJ. Kid-1 is with DW right now; I will probably hit the couch or somesuch.

Life is really not fair right now.

The cat has taken a turn for the worse, as reported in efbq's journal. I just got a call from efbq at the vet's, and it doesn't look very good.

Winslow may in fact be the wrong name for this cat. He's certainly got the "Hi hi hi!" bit down pat, but his demeanor otherwise is that of a typical Grateful Dead concertgoer, c. 1981 or so. Maybe we should call him Stoner ( Read more... )

The kitty, apparently, will be named Winslow. Winslow sits on shoulders, which delights efbq to no end. He was named by his former owner, who named the kittens after Civil War generals or somesuch; we have kept it because of this - the temperment seems about right - and because my other ideas weren't appreciated. First of all, thank you's to everyone who's commented, or lent their sympathies, as to our loss. Kid-2 went along with me to the trivia contest tonight. We both had a good time, even though we ended up in 5th (out of 10 teams, tied for the lowest we've ever gotten; what can I say? We had an off-night!) Still in first overall in the tournament standings ( Read more... )

After I got back from tonight's readthrough, I let the cat out; Grendel was meowing and complaining at the door, as per usual. What wasn't usual was that he meowed to get back in about ten minutes later, at the front door. Usually, he galavants around a bit longer and comes to the back.
