Don S. Davis passed away on Sunday of a heart attack.

If you don't know the name, he was a character actor with roles in all kinds of stuff, but the one I know him from was Lieutenant General George Hammond in Stargate SG-1.  He was fantastic in the role, as a gruff and no-nonsense military man, but kindhearted, intelligent, and always willing to ( Read more... )

There's a great tribute to him up on the front page of www.gateworld.net.

I've been watching Prometheus Unbound over and over again to get the Daniel/Vala vibe right for my fic, and now my mind is replaying Davis's role in that episode... He was so excited to be commanding the Prometheus, and so determined to get his ship back...

Oh Wow, I didn't know he was an artist. His work looks really good.

That's so sad to hear of his passing. I liked his role as Gen. Hammond.

That's incredibly sad! He was fabulous, in Stargate definitely and also in Twin Peaks. Sci fi shows will never be the same. :(
