Aw, Julian. Kira's still there! And Quark! And Garak's... relatively nearby? But no, he isn't nearly as close to Kira or Quark as he was the others, especially Miles. And "only a short trip away by warp" doesn't count for much day-to-day, especially given the state Cardassia's in.

And the worst of it is, I can't see any way to resolve this. A found family takes a lot of time and trust to form, and losing one so completely can be disheartening... but following the one you already have around puts a burden on them/limits your other relationships, your career, etc.
