This amused me.

So, readers of this space will remember how I feel about Encyclopedia Brown (hint: I love Encyclopedia Brown!).  So, of course, I need to enter this contest.

Ideas?  I have a few, but am open to suggestions.

A few weeks ago I went on vacation and while wasting time in the Phoenix airport, I read an issue of Glamour magazine, and it was both depressing and infuriating.  The magazine takes a tone that's very upbeat, girl power, 'you're fabulous just the way you are,' yet is spending it's time selling you crap and generally making you feel inadequate ( Read more... )

Back before I moved, I used to get annoyed at the large crowds that frequently gathered at the Scottish Rite Temple across the street, mostly because they took up parking and many of the freemasons, upon leaving, seemed to have a slim grasp of the concept of right-of-way.  I used to wonder what it was they were gathering for- potlucks?  weddings?  ( Read more... )
