As someone who is interested in pursuing some sort of career related to/in the animation industry, and as someone who is a huge fan of Pixar and their movies, I totally understand where you are coming from. I'm finding my rosy view of Pixar being shattered as well with each article, and I don't quite know what to do with it because it's just so depressing to see your heroes not acting as heroic as they can and should be ( ... )

I've had faith in Dreamworks since The Road to El Dorado man, so this is like LONG-OVERDUE CONFIRMATION.

And totally agreed about the whole Pixar thing, because on one hand, I love the majority of their movies from a storytelling POV... but they make me mad as a girl because they sideline women. I really hope Brave opens the floodgates on more female leads.

Ugh, I was just thinking this as I read an interview about Hayao Miyazaki. I mean, I love that Disney/Pixar immensely respects him work but I don't understand while they don't try to emulate him and include more female leads. I've also been extremely disappointed that they decided to let go of their first ever female director. I've never been so disappointed in them like this either!

Seriously. I am so disappointed in Disney/Pixar right now. Here are two major companies who have the power to help stop sexism in the industry and society, but instead are choosing to cater to it. While Dreamworks, on the other hand, is improving in leaps and bounds- awesome female directors, Roxanne Ritchie, ripping the Nice Guy to shreds, etc. I mean How To Train Your Dragon did have it's problems, but it was still an amazing movie.

I was so excited for Brave but now... I don't know. I don't want to see another mother/daughter relationship from a MAN'S perspective- I want to see it from a WOMAN'S.
