I've always been writing poetry but for some reason this past week I've been especially productive. I'm submitting lots of places lately, so maybe I'll get more stuff published soon.

2015 Nobel prize winner
The Nobel Prize in Literature 2015 was awarded to Svetlana Alexievich "for her polyphonic writings, a monument to suffering and courage in our time".
And here is a post with a half-sentence I wrote back in 2013 about her being one of the two front-runners for the prize.

Nobel
Nobel lit award was announced late last week and it was the journalist from Russia whose name escapes me. I remember mentioning her in a previous year.

Podcast
In other news I've started a podcast. It's an odd format for a podcast - I read pulp men's novels (spy novels, mercenary novels, detective novels, etc) and comment on them as I read. Mainly the comments are in terms of writing but stuff happens. So the podcast has the feel of a miniseries - I read the whole book, after all. Each book gets its own ( Read more... ) -
disappointments in the mail
One of the worst parts of not having any money is that I will receive donation requests from all of the places I used to give and I can't give them anything. It hurts.
