Can't sleep; worried about Spanky

It's nearly 4 AM. I woke, couldn't go back to sleep, came out to check on the kitties. I'm worried about Spanky. He's having a tougher time getting around. I think this thing growing inside him is getting bigger. He still eats, but not as much. I suspect he's not drinking enough water. I may call the vet tomorrow morning

I'm so sorry honey. This is a difficult time, and it's so hard. When they stop eating and drinking, they're ready. That's what we've learned from our pets. It's the only wisdom I have for you.

And I'm so sorry because I know how very, very hard it is.

I said, in the reply to another post, that with Spanky I feel like I've got a little "circle of life" thing going on, but this morning proved me wrong. I'm not ready to let him go, but I obviously need to be. I've had him since he was four weeks old; he's still my foundling in my heart. But that makes him my responsibility, and I need to do the right thing by him when the time comes. Which, well, may be soon.

We are giving Myst an antidepressant that is also a very effective appetite stimulant and anti-nausea medication. It's worked wonders for a cat who was literally starving herself to death, probably because she was sick to her stomach all the time. I think the caveat is that the cat has to be healthy enough to handle digesting food, which apparently Myst is, so I don't know if it would help. But it's called mirtazapine, if that's any use to you.
