The DNFs continued, so I just decided to go with it and get out more books I wasn't sure I'd like, skim them, and toss the ones I hated. Whenever I'm in one of these moods, I take advantage of it and I have yet to regret a mass purge of books.
My reading has slowed a bit because of the weeding out, but here's what I've read lately:

I've had very bad luck this month with a lot of DNFs (although I was able to mail all of them to new owners via PBS and BM).
Here's what I've managed to finish:
Blue Diablo by Ann Aguirre: I'm not a fan of urban fantasy so I didn't enjoy this. I thought maybe I'd like it because it got away from the usual vamps and weres, but there's so much else I ( Read more... ) -

Pardon my space bar issues, I'll try to go back and edit this post later but I might miss a few spaces that need to be there (I have a messed up space bar that doesn't do spaces sometimes, and does double spaces other times).

Jinx High by Mercedes Lackey: Yep, I hated this one too. I'm glad I finally got around to them though because I freed up some shelf space and it has inspired me to read the rest of my Lackey urban fantasy books because if I don't like them either, then yay, even more shelf space.

Olympic slowdown
Because I watched as much of the Olympics as was humanly possible, I didn't read as much in February.
Hawkmistress! by Marion Zimmer Bradley: This is my favorite of the three Darkover books I've read. I love girl disguised as boy stories and I love hawks and other birds of prey, so it was kind of a given that I would enjoy this. I liked Romilly a ( Read more... ) -

Burning Water and Children of the Night by Mercedes Lackey: I'm an unapologetic Lackey fan- of her high fantasy. I have most of her books now and have only read two series, so I'm making an effort to read more of her books this year. Also, I'm trying to read the few urban fantasy books ( Read more... ) -
the month isn't even over and I've already read 7 books
I've been reading like a fiend this month! I hope it keeps up now that my desktop computer is finally fixed and I have all of the Sims 2 expansions installed, finally, plus I installed the Sims 3 as well, but I need a different video card to play it.

focused on reading
I looked back over my novels read for last year and I'm disappointed with myself, so I've made firm goals for this year. So far, I've read three books this month, which is considerably better than most months last year.

Conquest: Unicorn and Dragon II by Lynn Abbey: Reading this was very frustrating because the series was cancelled after only two books, which means this one ended with a cliffhanger that will probably never be resolved (unless Abbey can get the rights to put something on the Closed Circle web page, which was the coolest book news I had all year ( Read more... )
