Well, I've finished off some, but started others, so I think there's over 50 series I'm currently in the middle of. Oy!

I swore I wasn't going to do many challenges this year because I failed at most of them last year, but I still read a lot of books and discovered some new favorite authors and books. Most of my challenges for this year will be in categories I make up myself on various LibraryThing communities. But I couldn't resist these four:

I haven't had the time or the spoons to post much lately. I'm reading slowly and I went on a science fiction tear to start the year. I'm enjoying Tanya Huff's Torin Kerr series and C. J. Cherryh's Alliance-Union series. Sorry to all the Darkover fans, but I gave up on that series because, for the most part, MZB and I just do not get along. I liked ( Read more... ) -
2010 50/75 book challenge
I decided that 50 books isn't enough of a challenge for me now that my health is a bit better, plus I really need to attack my TBR pile. Therefore, I'm doing a 75 books challenge, but at least 50 of those books have to be books I own, at least at the time I'm reading them (if I don't like them enough to keep, they will go on swap sites). I just wanted to leave a quick note to let my handful of readers know that I won't be around much for the next month or so. I lost my mom yesterday and since I'm her only child, it's up to me to make all of her final arrangements. And obviously I'm in a lot of pain and I'm grieving, so I won't have much energy for communication. -

My reading has slowed a bit, but I still read every day, I just haven't had much to say lately.
City of Sorcery by Marion Zimmer Bradley: I've read a lot of comments about people not liking this book, but I really enjoyed it- mostly because even now, there aren't that many women's adventure stories.

another reading update postponed due to health issues
Well, I had another health problem, this time resulting in a trip to the hospital (thankfully, it wasn't a serious Crohn's issue, I don't think, but rather a stomach bug or food poisoning- still scary and made me very ill, but I bounced back pretty quickly and didn't need surgery, an NG tube, or a long stay in the hospital this time).

I've been struggling with fatigue this summer so I haven't been able to write much. I've read quite a bit between naps though so here's my brief thoughts on what I've been reading the past few months:

short fiction, manga, and audiobooks for 2010
I decided to keep track of the short fiction I'm reading this year (if I don't read a whole anthology/collection). I'm also counting manga and audiobooks separate from my other challenges this year in an effort to read more from my TBR before it topples over and kills me.
