Wow, that's brilliant! What kind of paint did you use for that? Was the base piece untreated/plain wood or did you have to sand off a veneer to do that?
I have so been wanting to do that to 2 chairs of mine ... where did you find the new feet for the chair? I'm having a hard time finding the right size :(
This is the only piece of painted furniture we own. It's looking a little worn, but it's the original paint from the mid 1800s and it's been in my family since it was new, so we're supposed to never-ever do anything to change it. I don't mind, because I'm really partial to it as it is - it's in the only "girly" room in the whole house and it fits there.
oh, it's so lovely! it's wonderful as is. my trouble with such detailed antiques like that is that i want to paint them funky shades of primary variations to highlight the detailing that you find in so many of those pieces :D bravo for showing restraint!

Thank you!!! It was my income tax return splurge a couple of years ago. I always allow myself to buy one thing that I normally wouldn't. Sometimes it's something small like my William Shakespeare coffee cup that wasn't a mint but was more than I would usually spend on a coffee cup. The desk was actually an amazing price, but, for my budget, definitely a splurge. :o)

I painted it with regular ol flat/matte house wall paint.
When it was done I put down a sealer so it wouldnt chip or get dirty.
