A little updating

Jul 06, 2009 10:07

Since it was Christmas time when I posted my loft (http://community.livejournal.com/saucydwellings/1498236.html), there were a lot of things that were bound to change. Right now we're just trying to keep it crisp and airy and make it our little summer sanctuary. Thought I'd update on ( Read more... )

i'm afraid that US customs would have a few questions for me if I tried to board my plane home with your wall :)

It's the Ikea Malm Bed.

with one side table

and dresser

The bed itself is amazing... though I put the dresser together and the bottom drawer doesn't like to open, but that's Ikea for you lol.

I really love the bedframe though and to be honest, I was scared it would be cheaply made seeing as it was only $200, but I'll be honest, my husband weighs like 300lbs and I chase the animals through here like we're little kids playing and it's taken some abuse!
I always make myself take the time to tuck in the blanket... it's kind of a hassle, but it's so worth it for the impressive look!
The bed spread is from Ikea as well.

i was looking at the malm as a new bed option, do you use a boxspring? probably not eh? but do you think you could not put in slates and make it more stable[or block cat entrances :)] by putting the box spring on the floor inside the bed? or am i completely insane?

it is officially an amazing space.

just curious, have you heard (its totally possible that its not true) that round bowls cause fish to go blind?

Never heard that! I can be sure he's not though lol... when I walk near his bowl he ALWAYS begs for food! He sees me and swims around back and forth until I give him a little nibble! lol

you really shouldn't feed him everytime like that. Goldfish are notoriously dirty fish and all of that is just messing his bowl up. Which in actuality needs good filtration, some aeration..etc etc..

Oh, I don't feed him everytime, he generally only gets a couple pieces twice a day :) He just wants more lol. I end up cleaning his bowl frequently enough!

I LOVE the paintings above the bed. Can you tell me more about the one in the middle? It looks like a tattoo I wanted but couldn't find a good enough image of my vision!

Hilariously, these were images I found online and printed onto several sheets of paper, cut out, glued together and hung up there, from a distance, they look like cloth or rice paper. If you google Japanese watercolor or Japanese paintings, you can find quite a bit of stuff. There are some sites that have many many paintings. I have a japanese style full sleeve and really want a back piece. I'm not Japanese... but I just love the culture. The art is just so wonderful.

I think my problem is Googling too specific. I'm really interesting in an onna bugeisha (woman warrior) and haven't found anything quite right.

You wouldn't happen to have saved the link from that one?

Somehow I found it! haha

It's the first thing I get when I google Japanese Wood Block Prints.
It took me a minute to remember how I found it the first time.

Most of the stuff we get from Ikea falls apart after a few washes, but to be honest, for the price it looks great while it lasts... I don't mind getting something new every season.

Yeah my last linens are pretty much dead, but I love them anyhow.
