it is such a relief to have this room renovated. after 2 years of using it as a storage room and keeping the door closed all the time because it was so ugly, i finally have a guest room/dressing room that i'm proud of ( Read more... )

i didn't even refinish them, just vacuumed them and scrubbed them really well. they weren't in awful shape. i'm going to refinish all the floors (the whole house is hardwoods) at some point, so i left these as-is for the time being.

FANTASTIC changes! And it looks like your painters did a wonderful job repairing the walls.

We have a smattering of glow-in-the-dark stars on the door of our daughter's closet...frankly I'm just going to leave them. It looks like taking them off is brutal on the paint job, and I don't want to repaint the door! It's a kid's room anyway, right? ;)

yeah, it was worth the money to hire the painter. i was originally going to re-carpet, when i decided not to i took that money and put it towards the painter instead. much better choice. the previous owners of this house screwed up a lot of things throughout the house by doing it themselves, and i promised myself i'd leave the house better than it was when i bought it.

very cool! i have to ask then, what do you do sheet-wise when his friends stay on the couch? i had a friend visit a few weeks ago and sleep in that room, and we found there was nowhere to tuck the sheets in. i didn't know what the heck to do!

At least you didn't paint over the glow stars. I lived in a townhouse where one of the previous tenants had put those up and the landlord just painted over. It made for an odd glow through the paint some nights and since I couldn't easily see the stars in the daylight it took me a while to figure out that I wasn't just seeing things.
