"Who the fuck is Sarah Palin?"

Aug 31, 2008 03:08

I’m hanging out at my brother’s for the weekend, which is cool. There’s random wireless to steal, so that’s handy. =P We’ve been playing a lot of board/card games and having fun times, plus having a little bit of political discussion to keep things interesting. (I have been forced to watch more Fox News this weekend so far than I have ever watched ( Read more... )

sexism, stephen colbert, family, lol, politics, palin, quotes, wtf?!

I've talked to a couple of people who do just want a woman in the White House. That was before McCain picked Palin, but I imagine they will vote for her. I also think he'll get more of the moderates than if he'd picked, say, Romney as his running mate, at least in part because Palin is very "stand by the Constitution" based on her gubernatorial decisions.

I want a woman in the White House too. That doesn't mean I'd vote for someone who represents the polar opposite of my beliefs because she happens to have a vagina. That, frankly, is so many levels of really fucking stupid. I should hope most people would be able to grasp that, and I think that Hillary's sane supporters do. Like I said, the fuckwits are crazy, so I have no idea what they're going to do. Maybe they'll vote for him, maybe not, but it's entirely possible they were already going to vote for him anyway.

I don't know about the moderates. Her record doesn't look particularly moderate to me, not that she has much of a record to look at. I think her being a creationist will be the biggest thing to scare them away.

Girl, what do you mean S. Palin doesn’t have much experience? According to my step father, Glen Beck said she has more executive experience than McCain, Biden, and Obama put togeather!!!!!eleven111 I guess being a governor for 1.5 years makes you over qualified for the presidency. Heck, my mom has been on the county board of Republicans for 3.5 years. Lookout, America! Its Blairbarella’s mom in ’12!

My parents won’t even admit that she was a bit of a random choice. I mean, really? I do give her props for being able to manage a large family with a career.

Lastly, is anyone else feeling sorry for Mitt Romney? He must be real pissed right now.

Hahaha, maybe your mom could run with my mom and it'd be the first ever mixed-party ticket. =P

At least my brother admits that she is a pretty damn random choice.

Haha, he really must be. Poor Mitt. He thought he was going to be VP, and then this.

My sentiments exactly. It's like the McCain people are putting Palin on soapbox and gesturing wildly, saying, "LOOK! PROGRESS! LOOK HOW OPEN-MINDED WE ARE -- WOMEN WILL LOVE US," all while she keeps smiling, damnit. When it comes to progress, I can say this: no matter who wins the election, there will either be a black president or a woman vice president, which is kinda cool. But as a woman, I'm still hoping for Obama (Hillary, if I had the chance -- sigh). They're mocking us with her. This is the best we can do?

Agreed. My household isn't likin' the lack of experience on both sides.

My Mom is talking about nixing her usual straight ticketness. Be scared, your aunt is going to vote republican.

I've already accepted that my brother is voting Republican. It makes absolutely no sense to me, but, you know, he can vote against his welfare all he wants. (I don't think he quite understands that when conservatives talk about cutting taxes, the people who benefit from that are the super rich, a group that he is not in anyway a part of.)

Personally, I'll take lack of experience over another four years exactly like the last eight. Wait, my bad, I forgot; it'll only be a 95% similarity. God, that John McCain. What a maverick!

Mom is going into uber-paranoia mode over Obama's Islam connection. Keep in mind this is the same woman who wouldn't let me purchase a copy of a Stephen King book b/c she thought it was a true story and the book could bring evil into our household...

Yes, such a maverick... His response to Romney at the debates a while back on the topic of water-boarding- and if it was torture or not- was well said. Truth is, I don't think he's much of a leader, though. Brave soul, POW and all, but not leadership material.

Random: I wanna bang McCain's wife.

Seriously, we have ourselves a round of hot -first-lady candidates this time 'round.

...dude, please say you're kidding. Even if he were Muslim, which he isn't, why does that even matter? Oh god, your mom sometimes, I swear.

Haha, personally, I'd rather do Dennis Kucinich's wife. She's amazingly gorgeous.
