S.African Milk Tart, Anyone?

Oct 09, 2007 12:35

No, not me! I baked one. I got the recipe from a friend, jax_in_sweden, a long time ago and never made it. Then, I saw her this weekend (in Stockholm, that trip is two more posts that are coming, I promise) and promised that I would make it when I got home. And make it I did, last night! Yummy!

Sandy, I'm impressed! How did you manage to get it looking so good? I can never get the whipped egg whites to fold in properly and mine comes out looking a bit lumpy on the top. Have you a special secret?

I don't know, I just folded them in until they were mixed in pretty good. I even impressed myself a little bit. ;)

I'm always a bit scared to mix the whites in too much as you still need the air to give it a lift. The recipes always say to fold carefully and not overmix. I have the same issue when I make a Lemon Delicious Pudding. Maybe I'll ignore that advice and try mixing it in better.

Of course, I now have to make a Milk Tart tonight just to test that theory! :)

Yes, please I'll have a slice (or two)! It looks yummy and even better it doesn't look like chocolate so I could enjoy, since I'm allergic.

I look forward to the recipe if you are able to post it and hearing about the "rest of the Stockholm story."

You can find it on her LiveJournal in English. Just remember that she is talking grams, not dl like it says.

I think her website is for friends only, because the last entry I see when going there is from a year ago. So I can't see the recipe but maybe I can find it online elsewhere? Just curious, is it posted on Amerikanska? ;-) Still looks very yummy!
