I absolutely adore the game-- the presentation of the main character as someone realistic without being real is still quite rare, and the music was the finest of the series(well, minus X's version of The Prelude).
I've still not activated most of the Celestials because WHO THE HELL CAME UP WITH SOME OF THOSE TASKS. Also, I ended up making better weapons, for the most part(Evade&Counter + Tidus = HAHAHA NO ATTACKS WILL EVER HURT ME). =/
I love Tidus, he's easier to identify with than the emo bois, Cloud and Squall. Yes he's immature, yes he's hyperactive, yes he speaks like a teenager, well duuuuuh, he's 17! I've even watched the bootleg 'movie' so I could experience the Japanese voices - the personality doesn't change! The only different is, he has a gay laugh. >.>
I can easily get Auron and Yuna's weapons. I won't bother with Wakka's - I hate blitzball. I saw an interesting strategy for getting Lulu's, but I still think it will drive me insane. Kimahri's I might try for, if only to defeat the butterfly challenges. I'll need no encounters to make Lulu and Rikku's mini games. Tidus' will be a pain, I've never been able to do it. But it's nice to know even the FFX experts suck at it too.
Yep, the music is awesome in epic proportions! I listen to the soundtracks often, even the vocal album.
Did you ever play FFX-2? Three playthroughs netted me 100%.
I found Blitzball to be fun, if only because it was absurdly easy to break the game(especially if you nabbed the Al Bhed goalie, as well as Wedge and the Jecht Shot).
Hell, even the first tournament is easy if you pull off a goal-- just get the ball and swim to your goal and sit there. :D
I got X-2 when it came out, and other than the battle system, I kinda regretted it. Mainly it was the storyline and the way certain characters lost their personality(Brother, Rikku).
...oh, and fuck whoever came up with Sphere Break.
I have the Jecht Shot. OK, once I defeat Yunalesca I'll give it a go and do your tips. >.> I managed to do one shot during the match.
Aww, I loved Brother and Rikku in X-2. Apart from the outfit and hair, how do you feel Rikku changed? As for Brother, we didn't really get to know him in X, anyway.
I can't do math, but with a guide I could do Sphere Break (but I only participated in the tourny). I printed out a cheat sheet that shows just about every combo. So, before each round, since I could see the outside numbers, I would jot down one combo for each potential middle number. It was time consuming, but guaranteed me victory. To get my 100% I needed it and I did enjoy the Gambler dresssphere, so well worth the effort.
I have played most of it but got tired of the every three steps you have to fight a gay ass monster that was annoying but other then that I love the game and want to play it again
Once you have Flee you can escape the more tricky battles. I didn't mind so much, the battles are great for levelling. The only place that bothered me was the Mihen Highroad. I had to level by the save sphere to get through with ease >.< But it paid off. This time I was able to push the Chocobo Eater off the cliff! I've always had an easy time killing him, but never pushing him off.
Urgghhh... don't remind me of my FFX performance. I think that set a new record for "oh I'll get back to it eventually" procrastination. I fear for my attention span on FFXII.
I took expert grid first time, and horribly unbalanced my characters. Hell, I sure didn't mind Auron kicking ass over-and-above the party. And I'm fairly sure Khimari always sucks unless you do some pretty odd things with his progression.
But whose idea was it to stick stupidly hard dark aeons in front of temples I needed to get back into huh? HUH?! !@#$%ing FFX International Ed.
(And has anyone else noticed that CC:FFVII Zack = Tidus sans daddy issues and festive wardrobe? Or is it just me?)
Unsubtle plug: Right now, I'm 25hrs into Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King. It's quite sedate, a tad easy, but is extremely picturesque and unbelievably charming (often funny too, best monster design in the biz). Highly recommended. Unless you can't live without emo.
I'm spending some time right now in the Thunder Plains to get some extra stats in. Lulu just got Bio and Yuna just got Cura. Weeee! I obsess over the grid. I think I love the grid more than the actual game XD Auron always kicks ass over the party, even his HP is badass in comparison. With Kimahri it depents on what you do with him. I've had him follow in Tidus' footsteps and will soon detour into Aurons for extra strength and some break abilities
( ... )
Zack -is- uber-chirpy. CC:FFVII's gameplay didn't exactly set me on fire (got sick of the side missions after 30%), but I generally liked the story (except for the emo poetry-spouting antagonist) and how they didn't wimp out on the ending. Almost started a new game of FFVII (hey, it's been 10 years).
And yes, it's the PS2 Dragon Quest. I'm kicking myself for leaving it on the shelf so long.
I loved the missions, they were fun and so helpful in raising stats. The story was awesome. When I completed the game I cried for ages, it was just so touching - 'Why' is one my fave FF songs now :D
Funnily enough, the morning I'd completed it was the day of my birthday party. Naturally I got very drunk and during this time I lost sight of reality and thought I was in the world of CC. I was adament the world was going to be destroyed and no one believed me. >.>
FFVII is a great game, I'd give in if I were you. ^^ What I value in FFVII is no so much the story, but the varied game play it gives you - normal combat, submarine mission, the battle on the hill with that army, skiing, chocobo breeding, ect...a lot of thought went into making it plain old fun.
