Who else is a fan?
I've been watching YouTube vids lately of different battles (Darkkefka's vids are fucking amazing!) and it got me all excited, so yesterday I started up a new file and for my first time I chose the expert grid. Fortunately, I knew exactly which route all my characters would take, so this new grid didn't bother me. I clocked in roughly 16 hours and have just got Rikku in the party.
I've played this game a few times now and only once to the end.
1. When I first got it way back. Was not as serious or smart a gamer as I am today. I got as far as Lake Macalania and was never able to defeat the Al Bhed.
2. About two years ago; I was inspired because I'd completed Kingdom Hearts, the first time I ever beat a game! I clocked in 90hrs with FFX and only managed to get Auron's celestial weapon. I also didn't get any secret aeons. I didn't play this game smart, and spent a lot of time levelling up at the wrong locations. For example, I didn't get Lulu's -ara spells till Macalania! The Sanubia Desert was pure pain and I spent hours levelling up to take on Evrae. Looking back, I still don't know what the hell I was doing!
3. Maybe a year or under I began again, this time to play smart and I did. I had no trouble with any bosses or locations, got all the temple secret treasures, spent a while getting Tidus' overdrives and made sure the aeons were already in overdrive for the annoying first Seymore battle. I got as far as defeating Seymore Flux, but put the game aside for other games.
4. My latest attempt. I plan to get all the secret aeons, as many celestial weapons as I can before I go insane from the impossible mini games and defeat the dark aeons (maybe even Penance!). I'm also going to max out the party and take on all the hidden areas (I own the US and UK guidebooks :D).
After playing a sizable collection of different RPGs since I first played this game, I admit I find it slow and too story intensive. I'm antsy to just get to Yunalesca, finish her off and get a hold of the airship so the real game can begin! >.
