Jun was headed to the mess hall in an attempt to escape the horrible noise that constantly blared in her ears. She had her hands clamped over her ears, though it didn't really do much good. Grabbing the doorhandle she rushed inside to...blessed silece... or mostly. She gaped at the decorations and food. "Woah! What's going on here? Is there a party?"

Kaiba resisted the very strong urge to roll his eyes. It was unfortunate enough the girl was apparently quite dense, but she had to be loud too. Why did the annoying ones always have to be so noisy?

"Of course not. We're killing people in here," he muttered sarcastically, not even looking at her. It was obvious she wasn't a threat, at least.

Jun frowned at the guys tone. He may be cute, and she couldn't really hear what he'd said, but he sounded like he was being mean!
" Hmph!" Jun crossed her arms and sat down in the nearest chair. " It's not my fault I didn't know there was going to be a party here! Who's it for?

Screw it. He rolled his eyes anyway. It was just impossible to ignore the urge.

"As has been announced several times on the NETWORK, it is my brother's birthday party. He will be treated appropriately for such an occasion," he said coolly.

On The Sidelines.. Again. note_atem July 7 2010, 22:32:24 UTC
Atem had at least recognized that he had to pull himself together for this party. He was doing a little better than previous, enough to show up with that confident flair and at least not so pale appearance. He wasn't feeling better, but he could act like it.

He'd managed to buy before (and in the mess of his cabins find) the two presents he'd gotten for Mokuba. One was the fantastic board game of Candy Land. Atem thought this to be a good combination of the two things Kaiba told him were Mokuba's favorites.

Of course, Usagi had laughed at it. So he'd gone out one more time in search of something and come up with another game called, Uno. He had no idea what it was, but it was a card game, and those were always good. Both presents were wrapped carefully in crisp colored wrapping, the bows added on by the clerks at the store.

He placed them down on a table in the back and then resorted to leaning against the nearest wall. He'd wait and watch to see who came.

It was the first time Kaiba had seen his rival in person since they had fought. It still spurred that odd twist in his chest, even though they had (as far as he knew) gotten to the point where they were speaking again. Unfortunately, there was business to be attended to and priorities that were already set. He'd have to approach the other sooner or later.

"You are already doing me the favor of being the face for this. You did not have to bring two gifts," he murmured quietly from his spot on the wall. It was just loud enough for Atem to hear without moving. He hoped.

The voice was very nice to hear in person, he'd have to admit. But now wasn't the time for sentimentality. It was Mokuba's birthday, and he was... sort of doing a job. Kind of.

He continued to lean, bringing his arms up to cross over his chest while still surveying. Atem didn't really even entertain the idea of looking up at the brunet for one reason or another (perhaps his eyes might give away his condition, or he realized what Kaiba was doing, or maybe his neck hurt. Who could say).

"I bought the gifts before you asked, obviously." Since the shops had disappeared. "But he's my friend, too." Or at least Kaiba had convinced him of that. Of course he wasn't going to show up empty handed.

Kaiba wouldn't have noticed any movement from the other man. He was leaning back himself, his eyes closed in an attempt to conserve what little energy he still had. If there was going to be trouble, he would need this time so he could be aware later. Well..and also to enjoy the coolness of the wall. It was doing more for his headache than anything else had lately.

The brunet shrugged. "Even friends usually only do a few things. He will be very excited about whatever it is, I'm sure," he remarked coolly.

Kagome arrived and glanced around, looking for the birthday boy. Her hands were sore since she got some beeswax that she was going to give Mokuba for his birthday. He could put it in his ears and it will help with the noise.

She smiled slightly as she looked around. She also tried to buy him something that she would have thought Sota would have liked. She could not think of anything to get him so she got him a $25 gift card to one of the stores.

She got some food and sat down and watched to see who would arrive.

Kaiba was still leaning against the wall, his eyes closed and head pressed back against the wall. It was blissfully cool and quiet in here...at least until guests started wandering in. The sound of clicking footsteps alerted him to..someone else's presence. No one who was making a threat yet or who sounded like they were pacing aggressively. Whoever it was wasn't worth his attention. At least not yet.

Kagome noticed Kaiba that he was leaning against the wall. She was wearing heels and a dress for Mokuba's birthday party. She was actually trying to look nice for him even though she figured that he wouldn't care. She still not speak to him or to anyone since she knew that Kaiba hated her and she did not want to give him a reason to get rid of her.

Larxene arrived and glanced in. She stood for a few seconds with her arms crossed and an eyebrow raised. Obviously they went through a lot of trouble for this stupid little brat.

The blond walked around the mess hall as she examined the different people. She was quiet and watchful with a smirk on her lips. Although she talked a lot of smack, she was intelligent and she would rather know the people she was up against. Although it did seem as though they extend an invitation just for her.

She approached the food table and she glanced at it. She was a Nobody so she did not eat regular food but that did not stop her from glancing at it.

"So where is the brat?" She asked the room at large.

The brunet leaning against the wall didn't move off of it, or even open his eyes. His mouth, however, twitched into a deeper scowl once he heard the shrill and irritating voice. She had no concept of subtlety.

"I think she just spoke," he said dryly over his crossed arms. "I hear no one else throwing around aimless words."

The blond heard someone talk and she whipped around with her knives coming out before she thought about it. After looking him over and realizing that she was not worth his time, she just waved him off.

He might have ignored it if he hadn't heard the slide of metal across metal. She was an idiot who couldn't even produce creative insults..but flashing weapons around was another problem entirely. Blue eyes opened, revealing a hard stare.

"Are you so scared as to bring in weapons to a children's party?" he remarked icily. "Phobia of boxes?"

Fortunately, Yuugi was able to stumble across the party by chance.

Unfortunately, he didn't have a gift, especially because he just arrived. He hoped that Mokuba wouldn't be upset, but he'd make it up to him, once he got adjusted to being here. Wherever 'here' really was.

Plus the buzzing was kind of disorienting all on its own, and being in the mess hall was a relief all on it's own. He glanced around the mess hall once the buzzing stopped, now able to focus on who all was there.

There was another person in the hall. Atem had apparently done his job, and Kaiba was satisfied with that. Sparing a little bit of his limited energy, he cracked an eye open to get a better idea of all who had shown up, only to be confronted with a tuft of wild colored hair that definitely wasn't Atem. Damn it. He had thought he would have at least a few hours before he had to deal with Yuugi's almost unbearable cheerfulness in person.

He closed his eyes again and resettled himself against the wall. "I would assume you didn't bring a gift?" he asked coolly, hoping to get past any further introduction or commentary.

It was unavoidable, Kaiba. Better accept it now before it's too late. But seriously, Yuugi's observational skills only applied to so many things at once, so the fact that he walked by Kaiba without even recognizing him somehow wasn't surprising.

"Kaiba-kun!" It's mostly in a 'holy shit wtf why would you startle someone like that' tone of voice, but it doesn't last long as he turns and... looked up at the CEO. Damn you tall people.

"I... no, I didn't." He slouched a bit, feeling bad for the island's forced thoughtlessness upon him. Arriving somewhere, in his mind, was an excuse that only carried so far. "But.. I'll make it up to him! I promise! I'll get him something good!"

Kaiba snorted, fully expecting that sort of exuberance from the other, no matter how difficult the circumstances made things.

"He will expect it," he said calmly, his eyes still closed. "At least once he gets over the fact that you are here."
