What is up with this weather?
Last week, it was warm. I ran the AC and was wearing shorts. I was even thinking about dragging out my daughter's pool and setting it up. Then it started getting cooler over the weekend. Yesterday it was spitting snow. Today, there is a snow advisory saying we could get a couple inches of snow and sleet AND we're supposed to hit below freezing ( Read more... ) -
Let there be cake
My niece asked me to do a Wow Wow Wubbzy cake for her birthday. Everyone loved it. Pound cake covered in buttercream. Outlines and face were done in chocolate frosting. Arms, legs and tail were tinted white chocolate.

So we saw the lawyer today
Actually not the lawyer, just her assistants. I don't think we'll be going with that lawyer. Thankfully the consultation was free. We went because we had questions, but they spent the whole time basically promoting their firm. Hardly any of our questions got answered. Haven't updated in a while
Not much going on here. We've spent the last two weekends cleaning our our storage buildings from where we used to live and bringing them here. It should have been a one weekend thing, but didn't work out that well. I'm not going to get into why because I'm still pissed off about it.

A little tip to save you some money
My mom works at Walmart and she mentioned to me the other day that they price match. Basically, if another store is advertising a lower price on something, you just show the ad to the cashier and they'll match the price charged by the other store. Well Valentine's didn't go exactly as planned
Rather than fight the crowds at the restaurants this year, we decided to stay in for Valentine's. I bought candles and fixed a nice dinner of steak, baked potato, corn and crescent rolls. I figured we'd eat our dinner of rib eye steaks, baked potato, corn and crescent rolls, then follow it up with a dessert of dessert shells, topped with vanilla ( Read more... ) -
My forgetful husband strikes again
Earlier, I got me and the little one dressed and headed out to the car to run some errands. Got to the car, no carseat. Apparently, my husband had yet again forgot to put the carseat back in my car after using it in his truck. This isn't the first time it's happened. Taxes are done
I finished our taxes last night and got them e-filed. We actually came out better than I was expecting. We owe North Carolina a little money, but we're getting a refund from federal. Even after paying our North Carolina taxes, we'll still be almost $1,000 ahead so I'm happy. I just wish I'd e-filed a day or two sooner though. I was looking at the ( Read more... ) -
Kids
Lately, my daughter is refusing to take her nap in the crib. It doesn't matter if you try putting her in awake or asleep, as soon as she touches the mattress, she starts screaming and flailing. So she's been sleeping on my bed, on the floor, on the couch, just wherever. It's only during the day; at night she sleeps in the crib without a fuss.
