I usually hate the rule, too, but a part of me admits it looks weird to have an "a" sitting by itself. I don't care as much when using bullets. (I can't believe I'm talking about this so much!) ;)
YAY for you and NaNo! I also tend to switch a bit back and forth between reading and writing. My brain can't do both at the same time or maybe it's just that I'm afraid of accidentally stealing from what I'm reading.
Yeah, I think the stealing paranoia is a big part of it -- I want to be sure my brain is coming up with ideas on its own or I won't feel proud of what I'm producing. I think there's also an element of avoiding getting into the thought pattern of "Oh God, nothing I could ever write would be as good as this" leading to me give up.
Congratulations on your NaNo victory!!! That is awesomeness. I don't read books when I am on a writing tear, either. Or fics or anything. Then again it's been so long since I've been on a writing tear, I haven't had to worry. Congrats also on your table. *hearts IKEA*
Thanks! Ikea is a blessing. I got so excited by the cheapness whenever I'm there! And I love the sense of accomplishment of putting something together.
