Updatey update
1. Happy Belated Thanksgiving, all!
2. I won NaNo! I actually wrote over 61,000 words, but more importantly broke free of my inertia of not writing. I haven't finished the story so I'm going to keep going.
2.a. I haven't read any books in a while and I think it's because I'm trying to focus my imagination on my own story. Does that make sense? I'm starting to miss reading, but I think it will also be interesting to read something after this NaNo experience because I'll have a new perspective into what it takes to pull a story together...
3. Work = not my favorite thing at the moment. Mostly because one of my cases has exploded and it just happens to be the case I hate. (OK, maybe those facts are related.) Working this many hours for such a sustained period is starting to wear on me -- getting a headache each day because my brain hurts isn't cool, and I feel guilty that I don't have more time to give to friends or to put into keeping in touch with people. It's not "me." :(
3.a. I think writing a lot in NaNo has also been an escape mechanism to keep my brain from thinking about work crap at night when I'm trying to go to sleep. I also think it's been working -- I've been sleeping better.
4. We finally got a dining room table. We've been table-less since moving in, and I've been working on weekends so we haven't been able to go shopping. But on Saturday we trekked to Ikea and bought a totally cheap, totally serviceable wood table. Thank you, Ingmar.
4.a. While at Ikea we also bought frozen Swedish meatballs and cooked them for dinner tonight. Yum!
4.b. OK, technically my boyfriend cooked them. He's been a cooking maniac lately, bless him.
