Obviously you can ignore blatant scientific nonsense in the middle of an alleged science fiction movie. Can even you forgive Zemeckis for having a little white kid from the suburbs invent rock guitar?
*Blinks.* *Blinks again.*
I have seen this movie I don't know how many times, and I swear I NEVER thought of this. ... I'm ... I'm just utterly, completely and totally horrified! Why the hell didn't I see this, oh, back in the 80s when I first freakin' watched this movie?
*sighs* I haven't even finished the fic. That little line just stopped me dead in my tracks. Going back to finish now.
While I particularly liked Atlantis-as-a-house because so many times houses in dreams are the same house, at least for me, and--and--oh my God, pretend I said something smart about the collective unconsiousness here. I can't put it together well enough, but this chapter was deeply frightening on a level I can't quite identify.
I particularly liked this because there was no question in Rodney's or John's mind that the house was, in fact, Atlantis, which I think is true to form. I know that whenever I dream of *home*, the house itself is completely unrecognizable, but I still respond to it as my house, e.g. home.
And yes, the creep-out factor is strong with this one (channeling my inner Yoda).

My eyes are the size of saucers. How the blue-eyed hell are you going to wrap this all up in one chapter?!?!?!?!!?
I always use my girly scream icon for you, you know. Damn, you're good.

As I told someone else, being a largely immoral creature, there's the classic expedient of simply faking my own death...
