(tip o' the hat  to benchilada  for posting this first)

So an enterprising young woman has decided to auction off her virginity to the highest bidder in order to pay for her college education.  That link goes to the CNN video about it complete with snarky, condescending "reporters" patting themselves on the back with how morally superior they are to said ( Read more... )

The video isn't loading for me, but I seem to recall some young woman in England doing the same thing a few years back....

Considering that working for newspapers these days is to spend your time in an unwashed bunny suit, head jammed into an overflowing toilet, while being worked over by an editor wearing a six-foot sandstone strap-on who demands that you scream "It smells like shit, Daddy, and I like it!", I find it particularly funny that these reporters are getting sanctimonious about this story. Part of it is because at least she's honest about getting fucked for money, as opposed to getting fucked by editors because "we can't pay, but it looks good on a resume". The other reason, quite honestly, is professional jealousy, considering that she's getting paid for what they couldn't give away ( ... )

If it's any consolation prize, most newspapers are being reamed over by the Internet right now.

This story brings out all the Human Sexuality Stupidity that makes those outside the norm just shake their head. I find it the "millions for someone's virginity" thing just sad. For one, virginal sex is just clumsy. And the purity mythos needs to be banished to Victorian eras where it belongs, back when childbirth was a legitimate health risk to mothers and birth control only existed in a hush-hush way, for those relatively off and with the right catalogs.

I knew about surgery to restore hymens (hymenorraphy), but an artificial disposable way of doing things as linked below? That's just awesome. If enough people can be fooled, it's a business opportunity to milk money from fools.

Thank you. Very well put.

I saw an interview with this girl and her sister a couple of months ago. Not nearly as bad as this CNN thing but still condescending and judgmental.
