So we have a new family member. Meet Gracie! She was originally rescued from NC but wound up in MD. She is an 11 month old collie lab mix. Although she is just a little taller than Rory she is twice the weight. Thank you chunky lab genes!
She does not have her shots yet & needs to be spayed and microchipped. She is also in season. Yuck! So she is ( Read more... )

Good luck with more playing pics! It was a miracle I got this one! Other than this I managed to get just a picture of their tails!

Rory doesn't quite know how she feels about it, but I think they will be fine once they figure out their respective places in Saberivojo's pack!

Well, there's always time to improve LOL.

She's lovely, lovelier still once spayed! They seem to be enjoying each other, that's really great and quick too, sometimes dogs just click with each other. They'll be both digging in the pond in no time... Hehe...

I can't wait till she can get spayed. Still, I've dealt with dogs in season, it's just a matter of due diligence. No unplanned pregnancies on my watch.

So far I have to guard the pond from inquisitive noses.

She's so pretty! They're gonna be good friends once they sort out the top dog issue :) Love stories of people adopting animals. I think they know how lucky they are to wind up in a good home.

Thanks, Brigid! I spent a considerable amount of my adult life raising, breeding and showing Shetland Sheepdogs. I love purebred dogs but I've decided any dogs I get from now on will be mutts. Not only mutts, but rescue mutts. There are so many dogs that need good homes. So far I've managed to "find" dogs that are not in shelters but that need to be rescued to find a good home. I've looked in shelters and don't mind paying 100 for a dog but many times they want 300 or more. They also want to "vet" you. Honestly, I know what my limitations are with dogs, know what I want and feel comfortable being able to give the right dog a good home. So far I'm doing I'm 100% in good matches. Gracie is the sweetest thing. She is completely "puppy submissive" to Rory and Rory is enjoying being top dog. I can see that Rory is a little off put by her, but not too much. *iz happy* Let's hope it continues!
