Ooooh, pudding in a microwave bowl! thanks, Lisa - I have the mug in a cake recipe still but for non-chocolate times it's good for some variety.

I've been too scared til now to consider making pastry in the blender (I don't have a food processor either), but good to hear that's a goer too. I don't actually mind rubbing butter into flour/sugar, but I find pastry making a bit irksome a lot of the time.

Yeah, I'd normally do the butter by hand, but our kitchen is rather short on bench space and pretty messy at the moment. Makes me less enthusiastic.
I had to switch between blender-pulse, shake, blender-pulse, poke and stir with chopstick, blender-pulse, but it still only took about 60 seconds and I had clean fingers at the end of it, so that's a win.
