EX Weekend 2016

Aug 29, 2016 19:37

I had my first guest come to stay at my new place on Friday. EX Weekend had rolled around again, so my mom and I made our annual pilgrimage to the CNE. It took a lot of work to whip this apartment into half-decent shape, but my mom seemed very happy with how the place looked. LOL! Is it sad that I see this as a major accomplishment? No, wait. Don't answer that. *g*

CNE time again! Where did the year go? I'm glad that your mom likes your new place.

The cats are beautiful, even the funny-face one!

It's good that the Star Trek exhibit was wonderful and the artwork fantastic. Which two posters did you buy? I particularly like the Khan one and the recruiting one.

It's great that your mom enjoyed The Dark Beginnings of Sherlock Holmes and has been converted to a Stalky & Co fan. It's wonderful to share something you like so much with a person close to you.

Thanks for the post and pics.

I know! The year did fly by quickly!

I'm glad that your mom likes your new place.

I think she warmed up to it more quickly than I did, though she's always dealt better with change than I have. Still, I'm glad she's happy with it. She usually stays with me at least two or three times a year, so I want her to feel comfortable and at home.

I think the funny-face one is my favourite. :-)

Ooops. I really should have included captions for the ones I bought. While I was tempted by the Wrath of Khan poster, I bought the one with Kirk, Spock and McCoy in the transporter beam and -- wait for it -- the recruitment poster. :-)

Sand sculptures! I love those, especially the Star Trek ones. The Leonard Nimoy one is so lovely. And I love the Star Trek recruitment poster with the female characters on, awesome :)

So glad you had an awesome time and bought some lovely things. I'm so glad your Mum got to enjoy Stalky & Co, result! I know well the wonder of sharing something you love with someone and having them enjoy it :)

Also, as the cat photos were so awesome, I thought you might enjoy this video of wrestler Dalton Castle going to a cat cafe in Japan, he's pretty much out of character (though his character is AMAZING) and clearly really enjoying himself. It's adorable : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fk1jfRTdtpM

Every year, I'm amazed at the creativity and skill that goes into these sand sculptures. I was hoping that there would be at least one Star Trek sculpture, and the Leonard Nimoy sculpture certainly didn't disappoint! :-)

I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it. I'm looking forward to having it on one of my walls. :-)

Oh, thank you! :-) The EX is always one of the highlights of the summer and something we were both looking forward to. We both needed a break and a visit to the EX was ideal. It usually provides excellent retail therapy. *g*

That poster is going to look amazing in your new place, such a great choice! I would have bought it for sure.

I'm so glad you liked the video, I thought you might enjoy it. His character is amazing and he's just as adorable out of character as you can see :)
