What a photo! The info link did not help. One thing I noticed was now the grass is mowed considering the condition of the house. Is it a historical landmark? Soon it will be gone, sadly.

I know it would be impossible and dangerous to try to get inside, but I would like to see inside. How far back does this house date?

Excellent photo! 5 stars for this one.

Thank you kindly. If you read the whole form in the link, it gives a lot of info about the house. There are also pre-abandonment photos at that link.

The house is a landmark on Maryland's state register but apparently that hasn't done anything to prevent this from happening.

As far as I can tell it isn't on the National Register, I looked but couldn't find it listed.

Great photo!

I was surprised to see how much the house has deteriorated since the survey was done 39 years ago. It was still occupied in 1974, though clearly needed some maintenance even then. Of course, now it is a lost cause and will no doubt collapse soon.

It is so sad to see such a fine and unusual house rot away like that, ...yet even in its present state it still has charm and a faded dignity as it collapses back to the earth.

Yeah, it is really sad! You can see via this pic and some other pics on Flickr from earlier years that the foundation first failed where the big cellar doors are cut out. I figure as soon as there was no heat the foundation just turned to mush.

It's really sad, at least the cool gingerbread could have been salvaged or something but I'm afraid even that is a lost cause.
