It's always Kairn, isn't it :P I love how Tarek just walks by and just doesn't want to deal with it, and I really don't blame him for that. You did a great job unfolding the different elements of the experiment in reverse order.

No one else is half as much fun to torture. As long as no one is in imminent danger, Tarek's not going to waste the energy. And backwards storytelling was hard, but it was fun!
