Merlin. God, how she hated that man.

She was perfectly fine with the fact that he was a manipulative bastard-there were plenty of those scattered across the universe, playing their little chess games with those around them. She could stand those. What she couldn't stand was the power he had over this world, over its people. Commanding the weather to suit his mood, claiming omniscience and forcing the population to believe it, playing with thoughts and memories until no one could be sure of anything anymore. It was sick.

And the thing was, he was good at it. No, he went beyond good; he had to be one the of best brainwashers of all time. Because whenever Morgan tried to lift the veil from someone else's eyes, they'd fight back tooth and nail. He had conditioned them. He had conditioned them all.

Of course, Mattaso-when he was in one of his cynical moods, anyway-argued that it wasn't anything Merlin had to do, that humanity had an innate desire to deny anything that unsettled them. None of them cared about truth or honor, as long as they lived in comfort. Or so he said.

A smirk spread across Morgan le Fay's face as she scanned the dozen or so revolutionaries that had responded to her call. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the first official meeting of the Force-Benders of the Renaissance. We are the strong, we are the daring. We are those who have seen the truth and will swear to defend our right to the truth, no matter what the cost.

She loved proving Mattaso wrong.
