Good news.  I just managed to get a contract to polish up a half-written novel and ghostwrite the remainder.  It's not the same as getting my own novel published (no fame or royalties on this one) but it's real money and an interesting challenge.  It's 90,000 words which is a fair bit for two months, but not only is half of it done but there's also ( Read more... )

Well I got three queries out today, all to reputable agencies that didn't ask for a synopsis with the initial query.  I'm not happy with the synopsis I wrote, but I don't want to hold everything up while I try to make it better.  I'm almost completely through the last polish draft of the novel, and after that I can get back to writing ( Read more... )

I just got this from Writer Beware and it's not good at all.  Chronicle Books is going to start referring submissions to a self-publishing service in return for a cut of the money.  This is wrong in so many ways.  The only good thing about this is that they're being open about the deal, which gives us the chance to cry foul ( Read more... )

This has been a brutal summer but the good news is that the writing's getting back on track.  I still haven't got much done on my new novel, but I deliberately took most of the summer off writing that one.   My big focus has been getting my first novel unstalled.  It's been under consideration long enough.  I'm almost 2/3 of the way through  this ( Read more... )
