As soon as the music started, Conan had pulled on his coat and shoes, grabbed his notebook and set out to investigate, recording the phenomena, the time it had appeared at and its location. The stalls were interesting, their holders even more so, and Conan scanned them curiously. Some he could identify. Most he couldn't. Eventually, finding a place out of the path of the dangerously careering puppets he settled himself out of the snow and sat back to watch.

Jan had heard the music and it had drawn her. It seemed to be one of those things from home that she was truly missing lately. Bundled up in her coat and the rest of her winter gear, she wandered out to see the sights, looking for a few familiar faces among the growing crowd.

Conan almost hadn't called out to Jan when he'd noticed her, intent on his self appointed task of recording the event. Then he'd spotted a slightly lost looking expression cross his friend's face. He hesitated momentarily before tucking the notebook back inside his coat.

A few seconds later he was at Rand's side. "Happy New Year."

She really wasn't one to focus too much on the past and the people left behind. No real point in that when you were going to spend five years out in space, but Ruby City was something she'd never anticipated when she'd enlisted. With the holidays that seemed even more obvious and it was impossible not to feel homesick.

At least, until she heard Conan's greeting. She gave him a smile that wavered slightly but only held a trace of her earlier sadness. "Happy New Year, Conan. I wasn't sure if you'd be out tonight."

Asato was to be found watching the streets intently, focused on those giant puppets, tail lashing two and fro behind him like a...well, like a cat fully ready to pounce. He was half-crouched on a bench, sword strapped to his back like usual, blue eyes intent. His fingers would twitch now and again, as though he were only barely resisting the strong urge to do chasing and pouncing on one of those giant puppets.

Soon enough, the smell of food would draw him to tables, but for now he's staying where he is.

While she had been wandering around, The small Nation noticed the tail swaying to and fro and curiously she wandered over towards him and his half crouched position.

Shyly, she reaches out and tries to gently pet the tail that eludes her."Ah, ah. It looks so soft."

Asato smells her approach--but doesn't turn his head, focused on the puppets, tail swishing from side to side. He startles a little when he feels fingers graze his tail though and looks back over his shoulder with wide, surprised blue eyes. His ears twitch, as though about to lay back against his head but stayed perked, as though in silent inquiry.

"Ooh! They really do move! That is absolutely adorable!" She said as she looked up at those blue eyes as they gazed back at her. He was like one of Japan's cosplayers but in a sense it was like he was straight out of one of his many doujinshis. It was still adorable.

"Your tail is so soft."

It was by accident that Sieg had come across all this. It was easy for the festivities to grab his attention, and naturally, he felt the need to investigate.

The atmosphere was definitely more lively than it had been in the past weeks, and on a much more positive level. Music, explosions of light in the sky- it was amazing. "Wow- so what's all this about?" he muttered as he wandered along the decorated streets. Something sure smelled delicious too- familiar, even! "Hey, is that...?" Following his nose, he trotted over towards the food tables.

Goro had, like others, had found her way to the party. Toge was with her, resting at her feet. The fireworks had held her attention for a while but soon she had located a food table that was serving end of the year soba. Working on her second bowl, Goro watched as some of the puppets danced near by, and then had another mouthful of noodles.

"Wow, this is amazing!" He couldn't help but be awed by the assortment of food, especially when some of it seemed to be stuff he knew from home- which was really strange. Sieg wasn't about to question it though, thoroughly enjoying a bowl of stew that was just as savory as he remembered back in Citro village.

The boy glanced around eagerly, having a hard time at focusing on any one thing for all that was going on. He grinned over at Goro since she was nearby. "Hey, know what all this is for?" he asked.

"Mew Meaws?" Goro tried to answer around a mouthfull. Chewing and swallowing, she tried again. "Popula sorry about that! I think it's for New Years? This tastes like end-of-the-year soba!" And good soba it was. Eating some more, she smiled.

"It's totally neat, isn't it?"

The music and noise draws Simon out of his self-imposed hunt for the random things that reminded him of home, and he pulls on his jacket as he walks out of the apartment building, looking around at the tables lining the streets, and the people moving around. He had been ignoring the music for a while before he gave in to his curiosity, and it was clear that it had been worth it. If there was anythign this reminded him of, it was the city-wide party that sprang up at the new year in the academy town, although this one promised to have less alcohol hanging around, at least.

New Year?

Finally cured from his horrible cold, Pycal felt like walking around when he saw the fireworks and other things. He had no idea this place actually had fixed holidays, like in normal places. Sure, it was the 'Western' kind of New Year, but Pycal disregarded that. Even he had to admit that was a good change of pace for that place, considering it's usual dark and gloomy atmosphere.
