It was by accident that Sieg had come across all this. It was easy for the festivities to grab his attention, and naturally, he felt the need to investigate.

The atmosphere was definitely more lively than it had been in the past weeks, and on a much more positive level. Music, explosions of light in the sky- it was amazing. "Wow- so what's all this about?" he muttered as he wandered along the decorated streets. Something sure smelled delicious too- familiar, even! "Hey, is that...?" Following his nose, he trotted over towards the food tables.

Goro had, like others, had found her way to the party. Toge was with her, resting at her feet. The fireworks had held her attention for a while but soon she had located a food table that was serving end of the year soba. Working on her second bowl, Goro watched as some of the puppets danced near by, and then had another mouthful of noodles.

"Wow, this is amazing!" He couldn't help but be awed by the assortment of food, especially when some of it seemed to be stuff he knew from home- which was really strange. Sieg wasn't about to question it though, thoroughly enjoying a bowl of stew that was just as savory as he remembered back in Citro village.

The boy glanced around eagerly, having a hard time at focusing on any one thing for all that was going on. He grinned over at Goro since she was nearby. "Hey, know what all this is for?" he asked.

"Mew Meaws?" Goro tried to answer around a mouthfull. Chewing and swallowing, she tried again. "Popula sorry about that! I think it's for New Years? This tastes like end-of-the-year soba!" And good soba it was. Eating some more, she smiled.

"It's totally neat, isn't it?"

"New Years?" Sieg echoed, once that was clarified. He had no idea what soba was but figured it had to be what Goro was eating. "Oh, so around here- ah, I think I get it." He nodded, beaming.

"Yeah, it is! At least this place seems to know how to hold a good celebration."

Goro nodded in agreement. "Mh-hm, the parties are usually pretty good!" And the soba was finished. Goro looked into the bowl, thought it over and then got another bowl. Nodding towards it she asked, "Want some?"

He'd already gotten a good ways through what he'd been eating, having not realized how hungry he was. Blinking, Sieg glanced over before giving a nod back. Everything looked so good, it would be a shame not to try new things!

"Sure!"

"Yay!" Why not cheer that on? Goro put down her chopsticks and waved. "Hey, can I have anothe-"

Before the sentence was out of her mouth, a smiling worker came over with a freshly prepared bowl, setting it onto the table before moving back to his post.

"Er.. Bowl..?" Goro blinked. "Thanks!"

Looking back at Seig, Goro gestured to the table. "Sit down, sit down!"

Wow, talk about fast service! Grinning, Sieg wandered over, plopping down to sit at the invitation. "So what's this called again?" he asked as he peered at the noodles.

"End of the year Soba!" Goro answered. "It's just regular soba noodle soup, but if you eat it on New Year's Eve, you'll popula have good luck!" And with another mouthfull, Goro watched the fireworks idly. "How nice.." she remarked once her mouth was empty.

"Good luck, huh?" Sieg pulled his bowl closer, fumbling a bit with the chopsticks. Roberto and Chrodechild made it look so easy to use! Somehow or another he managed to at least get one small mouthful of noodles. "Mm- hey, not bad!" Mild compared to some of the things he'd had back home, but it was all right. Now if only he could figure out these stick things!

He gave it a rest for a moment, following Goro's glance skyward. "Yeah. This place seems to have gone all out, huh?"

"Yeah.." Goro answered. "It reminds me of home, a little." She smiled and then looked to Seig. "Glad you like it! They're not everyone's thing, but a popula ton of things aren't, right?" Finishing her bowl she waved away the worker as he looked ready to approach with a refill. "No, I'm fine- thanks!"

With a short nod, they were left alone. Toge gave a contented yip and curled up next to Goro's left foot.

"Aw.." Goro looked down at the dog and smiled before looking around again. "I hope this isn't like Halloween.." she muttered.

Twisting up the noodles between the chopsticks seemed to work all right, but Sieg still didn't know how to hold the things properly. He slurped up another mouthful of noodles, eying the workers that roamed about. "...hey, who're those guys anyway...?"

Wiping his mouth, he glanced down at the dog, grinning a bit at the noise before looking at Goro again. "Huh? What happened then?" he asked.

Goro shrugged. "I've never seen them before."

"It was kinda like this- there was a big party and then. Well, I turned into something- I think, but I don't really remember. It was popula weird!"

"Yeah..." Well, they didn't seem to be any harm at least. Sieg watched them work as he attempted to twist up another wad of noodles.

"Turned into..?" He blinked. "That was...at the cathedral, right? I didn't go to that one- I think I was asleep," he admitted.

Goro watched Seig and had to laugh. "Okay, wait. Like this-" Picking up her own chopsticks, Goro showed how to hold them. "Then you pick up like this." She demonstrated by trying to pick up air.

Nodding, she replied. "Yeah, that was it." Looking at him, Goro blinked. "Asleep? Well it was a night party.."
