So my whining in the previous post generated a Harold and Morgan Plot The Narnia Census comment fic courtesy of autumnia  keeperofqkeys and min023 I burned the dinner but it was fun.  On the plus side, thanks for the lovely comments.  I'm at 7,337 words, of which I'll probably use most of it, and I'm not half done, so that means probably another two parter.  The problem is ( Read more... )

So, Sharpie, just sayin, between that Guy icon I saw over on Winged Flight's LJ and the one up above -- I'm feeling a little presumptuous, but.. should they be looking a little familiar to me? If so, wow and thanks and teeehee. And if not.. errrm, nice icon. As for the An Orange is Not an Orange, yeah, the title is random, but this is a short that kept ending up on the editing room floor so to speak. I originally wrote it for The Palace Guard right after the establishment of the Guard with an additional recognition of a need for a more formalized way to gain intelligence on those who mean to to do them harm. But, I wanted to keep the focus on the Guards and it just did not fit. Then, I wanted to use it in the NFFR Color Challenge and so the Orange was a bit... well strained, but the overall tone of Black As Rat and Crow was pretty light and there's some pretty heavy undercurrents in Orange, so it went out along with the other story, Black White and the Gray In Between which is the meditation on torture and capital punishment in ( ... )

Were the rats and crows acquainted with Ed/Su before Peter decided to be Magnificent(ly stupid) and wade around the ponds of angst?

Oh yes, the rats and the crows certainly knew of the monarchs, but I don't think anyone really considered harnessing the collective power of the Concert of Minds to the ends of espionage in pursuit of Narnian interest. Sallowpad was the real architect of it. He is old by the time he shows up in HHB -- he's with the Narnians, and Ravens can live a very long time. I think he was probably pretty important in the resistance against Jadis.

I love this meme x 100000

I adored Susan and Lucy's conversation with Aravis in "Queens of the North". Way to bring in Lune's dead wife and my FAVORITE pairing, doomed Lune/Susan! And way to make Aravis into a fully realized character, never forgetting that she is a Calormene as well as an Archenlander. A++++++
