Warning: UN-BETA'D.
When he kisses her, there are hints of chocolate in her breath - a lingering taste from her lips. He’s never understood it, but he enjoys it; a sweetness that comes in a way that he’s more than willing to beg for, if it came down to it.
And when they kiss, she can feel the way his hands snake around her waist, his shoulders tensing as he curls into a net around her. As if he’s afraid to let go. As if she would disappear if he dared to close his eyes.
“Hawick,” she mutters in between breaths, “what’s wrong with you today?”
He kisses harder today - harder than any other day - and she can’t seem to collect what’s wrong with him. “Nothing,” shakes his head, dismissing her accusation.
She pushes against his chest with her small hands, staring into his dark eyes. “Tell me.”
“Michelle,” he furrows his brows, “I already said nothing’s wrong.”
It’s not a convincing answer, and she doesn’t accept it. Michelle simply pulls away, sighing as she takes a seat at the desk in a corner of the room.
“What?” He asks.
She glares up at him. “Why can’t you ever tell me anything?”
“I said that there’s nothing to tell,” he groans. Walking to her side, he hovers over her with a hint of anger in his eyes. He’s always been bad at containing his frustration.
Michelle looks away from him.
“Don’t ignore me,” he demands, grabbing her by the back of her neck and forcing her to face him.
“Let go!”
“No,” Hawick growls. He leans down to kiss her again, but she turns her head away. He forces his way to her lips and her screams are muffled, silenced by his aggressiveness. Like shattering lights, she crumbles in his arms.
He feels the sliver of a tear across his cheek, saltiness on his tongue. When Hawick opens his eyes, Michelle is crying - tears pooling from her eyes. He pulls away and holds her in his arms, warm against his chest.
The bitter taste still lingers in his mouth, but her words are sweet against his ears.
“I’m worried about you,” Michelle whispers, hiccuping and shaking in his embrace.
He nods, his chin resting on the crown of her head. He holds her tighter.
“Don’t do that again,” she pleads.
“I won’t,” he promises. “Never again.”
That night, and every night after, Hawick realizes he never receives simple, sweet chocolate kisses from Michelle again. Instead, her kisses are golden - a rich, dark chocolate. Bitter and sweet at the same time.
He likes these kisses better. Much better.

A/N: So, not sure if anyone here is a TVB fan? I used to be - before all their actors became sucky and the plots just down piloted. I mean, they're trying to get the senior actors back, but the plots are still eh... Anyhow, Hawick Lau and Michelle Yip are, like, my favorite "newer-generation" actors (even though they both left TVB forever ago - THANK GOODNESS). And I recently just watched Spell of the Fragrance, in which they were (FINALLY) paired up. Perfect series - despite the angst and how much I hated Hawick towards the middle-end, perfect actors, perfect EVERYTHING. Mickey He ;A; I hated your character, but you - YOU ♥. I LOVE REN QUAN FOR PRODUCING THIS SERIES (I like him as an actor, too~ XD). Okay, done spazzing ^-^ Thanks for reading, to those of you who read~
