Summary: When he runs, he isn't always trying to get away.

Just one step closer until he reached his side, but the other picked up his pace, maintaining this distance between them.
“Why do you keep running away from me?” Eunhyuk asked.
Every breath heaved was one taken from the chilly, winter air. It scraped through Donghae’s lungs, scathing the walls of his heart. “If you don’t chase, then I wouldn’t have to run,” he replied.
Eunhyuk only continued pursuing forward. “Why don’t you understand?” He asked. “Even if it’s just a simple embrace, I need something more than this distance you set between us.”
And you don’t understand that the reason I run away is because I want to be chased after, Donghae scoffed bitterly to himself. “If I stopped running, would you stop chasing?”
“Never,” Eunhyuk smiled weakly.
Donghae appeared deep in thought before he finally took a deep breath and halted his continuous steps, his feet digging deep into the December snow. The cold seeped through his boots, soaking his clothed feet. He shivered slightly, shoving his hands into his coat as he raised his eyes to meet with Eunhyuk’s more desperate ones.
The other boy smiled, his eyes crinkling beautifully under his beanie, pausing as well.
Donghae’s breath hitched, a sudden worry overcoming him.
“What’s wrong with us?” Eunhyuk laughed. “You obviously want to be caught, and I obviously want to catch you, but neither of us are making it any easier on the other or ourselves.”
It takes a moment for Donghae’s reddened ears to process what Eunhyuk’s said, and a smile forms on his lips. He looks down at the snow. “I don’t know,” he chuckled.
And the next thing they know, they’re both impelled into the snow, their figures imprinted into the cold ground. Eunhyuk swallows Donghae’s grunt with a kiss, lips interlocked and breaths strangled low in their throats.
Eunhyuk pins him down by the shoulders. Donghae grips Eunhyuk tightly by the waist. They struggle for a moment, fighting the other into submission, until Donghae’s loss of breath makes him dizzy.
As he falls back into the snow, Eunhyuk straddles him and pulls back to stare him in the eyes. They both begin laughing, an endearing smile on their faces.
“You’re crazy,” Donghae runs his tongue over his bottom lip, swollen. “I thought I would suffocate to death.”
Eunhyuk smirks. “You’re just weak.”
Donghae tilts his head to the side, away from Eunhyuk, and bites back a silly grin. “That wasn’t how I imagined it to be,” he muttered.
“What?” Eunhyuk asked, reaching out with both hands to cup Donghae’s cheeks and turn him back to face him.
The red tint on Donghae’s cheeks were prominent, but it could have just been the cold and the snow and his lack of oxygen. “How I let you catch me.”
“You mean how I caught you without you noticing,” Eunhyuk corrected matter-of-factly.
Donghae shook his head. “I always knew it’d happen, that’s why I ran.”
“That makes sense,” Eunhyuk scoffed.
They looked each other in the eyes intensely, until Eunhyuk felt something stir inside of him, forcing him to give in again. He’d always been the one chasing, the one pursuing, the one wanting.
He held back his desire to lean down and kiss Donghae again.
Donghae saw the fire in his eyes, warming him inside, and reached up to wrap his fingers around Eunhyuk’s neck. He lured Eunhyuk down as he raised up, their lips meeting halfway.
Probing. Nibbling. Yearning.
The chase was over. Finally.
